Melvin Gordon should win the Heisman. Cooper should be 2nd, IMO.

Who knows. Half the catches Mike made Amari wouldn't have been able to because of his size. Cooper's great after the catch, but isn't good in traffic or with jump balls. That is why I would take Mike over Amari any day.

Plus, Amari literally has no competition for targets. Mike had three other guys who were all reliable options.

Mariota's stats are pretty damn ridiculous.

Yes they are, and so are Melvin Gordon's stats.

Then you watch them all on film and they are all dynamic players. I still feel like Cooper is the most Dynamic player of the bunch and will be a Top flight WR in the NFL.

To be fair, jump balls weren't required against A&M. There wasn't anyone within 17 yards of him.

some gold in here from the preseason regarding cooper

LINK

Only person more overrated than Fournette.

quote:

Treadwell, Coates, RSJ are all better than this guy... And that's just off the top of my head. Cooper is badly overrated. He put up his best numbers against terrible defenses.

I said they would be better this year.... Cooper will not even be Top 5 in the SEC in receiving yards or touchdowns this year.

Cooper is putting up the same stats as Marquise Lee, who finished 4th in heisman trophy voting in 2012 I believe. Not gonna happen.

Agreed Cooper won't win it. I think it is Mariota's award at this point.

However, one difference between Cooper and Lee is that USC went 7-6 in 2012 and Bama might be 12-1, SEC champs, #1, and on the way to the playoffs at the time of the voting. That can make a difference to voters.

Still Mariota seem pre-ordained at this point. He would have to have a 3 INT game in a loss to Arizona to lose it at this point.

I'm not saying Amari's not a great receiver. But I've seen him drop lots of balls in traffic. Of course he's got a few catches with a guy or two on him, but Mike routinely had entire secondaries all over him and would come down with the ball. I'd take Mike any day with a double team over Amari, and if you were honest you would, too.

dude... amari drops more passes in a game than mike drops all year. no matter how many facts I give you, your mind is already made up; but objectively speaking you would be choosing unwisely

You said "he's not good in traffic or on jump balls". He is actually fantastic on jump balls and fine in traffic. He generally doesn't end up in traffic because he runs such amazing routes he gets himself open.

And yea, Mike Evans was incredible on jump balls. It was his calling card.

Mike Evans dissapeared in games, though. Cooper does not.

Evans 3 worst games (Power 5) in 2013
@ Ole Miss - 4 catches, 46 yards, 0 TD
@ LSU - 4 catches, 51 yards, 0 TD
@ Missouri - 4 catches, 8 yards, 0 TD

Coop's 3 worst games (Power 5) in 2014
@ Arkansas - 2 catches, 22 yards, 0 TD
@ LSU - 8 catches, 83 yards, 1 TD
MSU - 8 catches, 88 yards, 1 TD

I'd rather have Coop.

I am about as objective as they come. As a Georgia fan, I have no vested interest. I just watch the games.

Cooper is a great choice and a GREAT player, but as others have said Gordon or Mariotta will win it....Bama rarely hypes ofr it and with Ingraham having won it doubt Bama gets much support for AC...but he is fun to watch...
