At least I don't come out saying...butbutbutbut...we did everything we could. It's not our fault. You guys are laughable the way you try to defend the actions of your administration. I will condemn poor behavior not defend it like you.

However, I did not see where Georgia covered up any football player or basketball player rapes. Can you say the same about Missou?

I thought not.

The part where the university couldn't do anything because of HIPAA and the parents not wanting them to pursue a little difficult to comprehend?

Regarding UGA not covering it up, did you not read the link?

quote:

But when a report doesn’t go to University police, UGA sweeps it off campus, taking the number with it

quote:

A student victim of rape, who wished to remain anonymous, said a visible on-campus advocacy center would heighten awareness and help all students, not just victims. “Right now it’s just getting brushed under the carpet,” she said.

Why is everybody at UGA so intent on "brushing rape off campus" or "under the carpet"... it sounds like there's a culture of rape acceptance in Athens

Have you wondered why they suspended DGB indefinitely before the real story broke? They did this when rumors were driving the story.

To minimize damage. Suspension is not dismissal.

quote:

Why did they publicly come out and talk about how extremely disappointed they've been in his antics and overall Mizzou quality expectations?

Because they would look like delusional idiots if they talked about how great he is.

Not sure how you justify the coaching staff's actions as anything other than appropriate.

Not sure how you dismiss what looks like obvious interference from the coaching staff

So the coaches talked to DGB's gf and pressured her to keep all of this quiet, and the other girl too? (according to the text msgs)

Boy, Mizzou sure learned its lesson from that poor girl who killed herself.

College sports and coaches are so fricking dumb.

You don't listen very well, did you? I said I won't defend these actions. You, of course support all actions by the U of M administrators in the matter of rape and cover up. Talk about not comprehending. Did you not see where I said I condemn the actions?

I have no idea. And agin. I condemn it. Do YOU condemn the actions of the Missouri administration? Did you not comprehend where it said they were aware two years ago and did nothing until an ESPN interview came out?

Mizzou admin didn't do anything wrong, so I don't need to condemn anything. Sounds like you should be more concerned with the rape culture at UGA than worrying about one of our athletes getting into an argument with his girlfriend.

DGB entering counseling.

@Dave_Matter
Complete statement will be up soon at STLtoday: More from DGB: "It may not be possible to fix everything, but it won’t be for not trying.”

@Dave_Matter
From DGB statement: "I have been young and dumb. I want to be better. During my suspension I’m entering counseling."

I'm somewhat happy to hear he's getting counseling, but this is along the same bullshite he said after his last arrest in that he's going to to try to be a better person.

He's a guy who beat up a woman. He shouldn't be allowed to be on the team whether or not the scared girl presses charges.

How many times has DGB been "young and dumb." Four? Five?

You don't know the facts of this case - and this stupid "dailymail" article doesn't understand American laws. The only person she told was bound by HIPAA - so she COULDN'T notify the University, so no investigation could have taken place. Speculation came out later and the parents refused to turn over evidence to the University. It's a criminal case anyway, happened off campus, the police are the ones that would investigate.

So your understanding of HIPAA cites that if one is witness to a crime that they cannot tell authorities? Is that what you are suggesting?

Seriously? they had information about a rape and suicide two years ago and sat on the information?
Maybe in Missouri that is nothing wrong....but....

And Missouri has had several football players and basketball players accused and/or convicted of rape and you think UGA has a problem and Missouri does not? Oooooook.

Not at all but it's obvious you don't have a fricking clue what I'm even referring to or the salient facts of this case, so I'm not going to bother to explain it to you.

Here's something a little more your speed:

Looks like the Missou PR department is working overtime to repair the damage. Considering all the Missou people that say there is no problem to fix, I am surprised that he is working to fix it.

But....in all seriousness, I hope he gets help and I hope he can get things turned around, for his sake...Missou's sake...and his familys' sake.

What specific information did they sit on. Who had this "information" and what was it.

I'm really questioning your literacy.

Well...since the idependent report was released, let's see what your administration says about it, now, shall we?

“We probably dropped the ball,” a university official told investigators, by way of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, regarding the lack of a clear reporting policy according to the report. Despite the apparent mishandling of the situation, it doesn’t appear, at this point in time, that the feds have gotten involved

And you are the one that needs to check himself for reading comprehension....they were aware of the rape in 2010, and they did nothing. Nada. Not important enough. Then the girl committed suicide in 2011. So, YOU tell me...why open and independent investigation in 2014? Because ESPN exposed it all? What changed to cause the investigation? Why is it warranted now, but was not in 2010 or 20111...or 2012...or 2013?
