The man consistently had enough NFL talent to field an NFL expansion team, and he still chocked big game after big game away. And even chit games like the Music City Bowl for that matter.

Nobody put the LOL in BayLOL like Steele. He was 1-31 in Big12 Play. He is credited with what is considered the worst coaching move in College Football history when he tried to run up the score on UNLV and instead gave up a 99 yard fumble return for a TD to lose the game citing how he was trying to teach his team to play with attitude.
That was long before he was a complete disaster of a DC at 2 other schools.
