Alabama should go independent

Its pretty obvious the committee doesn't care if your teams playing a grueling schedule that eats itself alive. That extra game at the end of the year means a lot too when it comes to an injury standpoint. Ohio State can get away with having a 2 game schedule every year and be rested up fully at the end of the year.
Alabama has the resources,money,power,and prestige to stand on its own. If we went indie, teams would be clamoring to get on our schedule and we could still keep our 3 rival games,lsu,auburn,vols while the rest can be anyone we choose.

As long as Saban is there. Get a mediocre coach and go 7-5 for a couple of years and you'd be begging to get back in. This entire premise is beyond retarded.

Alabama couldn't afford to go independent.
Texas isn't able to afford to do so with the LHN failure and people in two different countries care about the Longhorns while Bama is only a big deal in a few counties in one state.

If the goal is just to win championships, then going independent would make a lot of sense. However, making money is the goal, and going independent does not fit that goal.
