So lets add up the numbers.
Son of seri started 0 games in '11, six games in '12 and seven games in '13 and he's been starting for a year and a half. OK.
That's 13 games total started. How does that equal to a season and a half as a starter in the tide secondary?
Like I said, played Money the last few games of 2011. Of course we didn't open in Dime, and probably didn't use Dime a lot.
In 2012 he played Star. We didn't always open in Nickel. He played just as much as anyone else on D.
"Starting" is silly. Does "returning year and a half major contributor" fit your fancy?

Man, hate to hear this
Sunseri had a 6th like sense when it came to making timely plays. He'll be missed and hopefully other players make the most of this great opportunity. Get well Sunseri........

Well the thing is when most people refer to returning starters that's what they mean. Players that actually are part of the starting 11 on either side of the ball.
Is a team's nickle back a starter? He is the starter at his position.
What about the dime DB?
What about a LB that is used in the nickle defense. He isn't the starter on the regular "D" but, he comes in when a team goes to it's nickle package. Is he considered a starter?
How bout a team's #3 WR? He doesn't usually start a game. Team usually starts a FB but, sometimes it starts three wide instead. Is he a returning starter? Same goes for TE.
When all the preseason mags and preseason football shows come out. What is the term used to judge a team's returning experience? They might mention something about returning game experience but, it is always returning starters.
I have seen players that started six-seven games one season not be counted as returning starters from the previous season.
Just because a player sees a lot of PT doesn't mean he should be considered a returning starter.
If that's how you judge starters then every year LSU usually has 8-9 on the DL, 5 LBs and 6-7 DBs. That comes out to 19-21 starters on defense for the tigers and about 18 on "O".
I really don't care what term you use just use the one you really mean. There is a difference.
