Florida won 73 straight vs. unranked opponents from 1990-2000.
Miami won 72 straight vs unranked teams from 1985-1995.
Alabama is currently at 70 straight wins over unranked opponents (2007-present).

Wins over Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Mercer would tie the record.

It's likely that all other opponents this season will be ranked when Alabama plays them so breaking the record may have to wait till next year.

Unfortunately this says more about the state of the conference than anything. It is possible that LSU will not be ranked and AU with losses to aTm & UGA won't be ranked either.

Bama may not face a ranked team until the SEC championship game.

Paul,
Not sure I understand your sentence "Unfortunately this says more about the state of the conference than anything." I'm guessing you're referring to them possibly breaking the record this year. Otherwise, it falls flat since the streak began 10 years ago.

Is this really a record we track these days? Or is this something a Bama fan dig up to pat themselves on the back.

Hated to downvote your first post under your new alter, but I did because you are supposed to spell it "Pawl".

19th. Were 3-1 coming in to the game with a win over Georgia and a loss to Auburn.
And of course a bye week.

Obviously, someone does. ESPN is one that does.

Also, Bama has a steak going of reaching #1 in the AP poll each year. Broke the Miami record back a couple of years ago.
