Nah, not really. Don't feel like looking for and providing links. I could be wrong anyways.

One natty and 7 SEC titles? Not too bad..
No LSU fan I know of suggests we were in the company of UA & UT in the conference, or USC, ND, etc. nationally before Coach Saban. But the other extreme is just as false. From the beginning of time to 2000 LSU, by winning%, ranked 15th. We are now #12.

Always been a solid program. Very strong now.

They wont because it's a lot harder to buy players, they have to compete with MLB

The did when they made the CWS finals back in '97.
Then they stopped very suddenly for some reason.

Quit using the sidewalks as an excuse to start threads like this.

Would USCe fans even be talking baseball if Carolina hadn't won 2 recent national titles?
Ummmmm, well, yeah - I think that's a given since we were pretty much baseball-crazy long before we won the two National Championships. Before we won the two National Championships we were the winningest team in the country since the turn of the millennium and we had already played in several championship games.
I don't think you really define what sports matter to a fan base by the national championships - that for the bandwagon riders. You define what sports matter to a fan base by support, rivalries, the focus within the individual states, etc.
Baseball is huge here in SC. Even the smaller programs, in the state, compete on a high level.

Too bad your Ladies don't play baseball. They would do better at it

But then we would forget that Football started only 13 years ago
Well, given scholarship restrictions being limited to 85 in 1992, the BCS being formed in 1998, and the exponential growth of college football on TV in the 90's and 2000's, that's actually about right. "Modern day college football" indeed started around the year 2000 or thereabouts.

I brag about anything, and would do the same even for minor sports like baseball. What a dumb topic

I think you would have a much easier time arguing modern college football started in 1992 with the introduction of the SECCG and the Bowl Coalition.
ETA: No shite, we would be bragging about baseball if we were doing well. We want all of our teams to do well. Baseball is heading in the right direction at least compared to last season which has a lot of people excited. I personally don't care for the sport (or softball for that matter), but I won't say it is some meaningless thing to be discarded.

I agree with that. I think most people would say modern day college football started right around that period with the scholarship restrictions, SEC expansion, SECCG, etc. That's when the whole college football landscape started to change and the massive TV dollars started rolling in, not to mention the scholarship restrictions finally started leveling the playing field.
