BB has all the talent in the world, but when he feels pressure to win the job he pushes and crumbles. That's why he typically has good springs and bad falls. It's a mental thing, but it's a problem.

Bateman starts and manages the game, with Hurts coming in and getting some time. If Hurts develops, he could be the starter by mid-season.

A backwards pass was witnessed?

CrimsonBoz was providing live updates from Saturday's scrimmage. Here's how he called it.

Bb8 fumbles pass backwards, taken in for touchdown

Sounds like he went full JJ and then took it a step further.

Some of the ones over on 247 sports BOL supposedly attended the scrimmage and said the same thing about BB.

Experience doing what, exactly?

Bad experience and useless experience doesn't mean much.

Maybe he'll get better but most 5* QBs in every class don't seem to live up to the hype.

And none of Bama's five star QBs ever seen to work out.

That's why Hurts is so badass. He was only a lowly four star.

Maybe. But that would be the worst litmus test for a QB's ability.

He's the team fluffer. A key cog in the process.

Playing in an actual college football game. More practice experience. More scrimmage experience. More game experience.

I'd say invaluable.

If you can't the team to rise to the occasion, they'll never deliver the goods.

A good fluffer makes it all happen.

From what I've read, Blake Barnett is a turnover machine at practice. It's between Jalen Hurts and Cooper Bateman, with JH impressing but CB likely starting due to his experience and amount of time in the system.

I read all of that on here.

I figured Bateman would get the nod for the reasons you listed but the more I read from actual scrimmage observations and the more I listen to Saban's comments, I think it is going to be Hurts - which is simultaneously exhilarating and frightening.

They just need to let Hurts start, if he is as good as Bateman is and he is just a freshman, I would let him start and just deal with the freshman mistakes. Over time throughout the season he will get better and will be capable of playing against elite competition. If Bateman hasn't improved yet as a RS Jr I don't believe he ever will.
