Alabama and their history of success. I've looked over the record books and figured out Bama has been excellent, over the course of college football history, because of good coaches.

Give any team Zen Scott, Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Paul Bryant, Bebe Stallings, and Nick Saban, and hell, they would be great too.

So, really, I see the point that so many fans of other teams make about Alabama being horrible/average without great coaches. It makes perfect sense if you think about it.

Without great coaches they would be horrible? What if they just had good coaches?

So Alabama is good historically because they had good coaches.

Got it.

And which teams were historically good with bad coaches?

I know it's sarcasm but I agree that if Alabama hadn't had those coaches they wouldn't be very great. But I think a lot of people have a hard time accepting that Alabama has had those coaches and regardless if they are the reason for Alabama's success, they still were there.

It's sort of like how people say "if fournette wasn't at LSU they would have barely made a bowl game" earlier in the year. That may be true, but Fournette is at LSU, and LSU had a decent season with a good bowl win.

Alabama attracts those coaches because of their tradition. Sure maybe if they didn't coach there Alabama would be average, but the fact remains that they aren't average. They are pretty much the gold standard.

No one here caught onto the sarcasm? The Alabama having good coaches and this is why they have been successful is an argument some make as to why Alabama is actually irrelevant.

Is this one of those clever Vol fans creating an alter to come here and give everyone a good ribbing? These guys and their pranks. I bet it's Shaftee again.

75% of the posters here believe that no new posters ever come to the board. That is taking insular to another level.

No, not at all. Amazingly, new posters do come here occasionally. Even more astounding, to many of you who have never posted anywhere but here, they aren't afraid or intimidated and actually post.

Wow. Most alters put more effort into pretending they're not alters. When did y'all stop giving a frick about the deception?

In any event, I do agree. Bama doesn't have, say, Notre Dame's history of success despite having an unbroken string of horrific coaches through its history.
