How many times has Bama been a #1 seed ? How many times have they gone to the Final 8?

I agree it would even the field. But what are the odds that happens ? And who would fit the description ?

I think that Grant was the hottest mid-major coach on nearly every national commentator's list will likely make Alabama steer away with their first choices from another mid-major that doesn't yet have a long track record.

To answer your question: getting someone like Howland would certainly fit the description as he would be a huge name with 3 Final Four appearances and probably 20-30 former players that went on to the NBA.

Auburn basketball might be historically the worst program in the league. Bama makes a decent hire, and you are right back in their shadow, like always. I know you hate to hear that, but you need to.

This is the 21st Century and with the SEC Money, nobody is in any teams shadow except for the one cast by KY.

Any excitement/exposure from Pearl being at Auburn stands to help Alabama more than hurt them.

Totally agree. Both teams being good has the potential for a great rivalry. Vandy, Memphis, and Tennessee were all at their peaks around the same time period.

You are spot on. Not just for basketball, either. The fact is when your rival succeeds, it puts more pressure on you to do better. It is not a coincidence that during Alabama's run of National Championships Auburn played twice for them as well.

Cheers to competition.

Most Auburn fans know our basketball program sucks historically, but it is laughable that tards like you think bama has some great tradition in the sport. The greatest bama basketball coach ever never made it past the Sweet 16 and won 1 regular season SEC championship in 12 years. Kind of tells you all you need to know about bama basketball

Alabama trails only Kentucky in all-time winning % in the SEC. Yes. Alabama is historically pretty damn good.

Yet many other conference schools are equal or better than Bammer in other categories and nobody in their right mind would consider bama the 2nd best basketball job in the conference or even close to that.

Doug Segrest is a Bammer graduate and huge homer and I remember him only ranking bama as the 6th or 7th best program in the conference a few years ago. That was before Missouri joined the conference and they are superior to bama in everything but winning percentage

That's fine. Doesn't change the fact that Alabama has a good history in regards to basketball.

It isn't that great. The winning percentage bammers constantly bring up isn't even in the top 30 nationally
