Alabama by far the best defense, right? Well maybe not.

Auburn's giving up 17.3 points per conference game... bama's giving up 17.2.

Auburn has actually given up 3 fewer touchdowns than Alabama through six sec games.

Credit to lowspark for the info above.

Don't you know half of those TDs Bama has given up were in garbage time, and therefore don't count?

They count on the score board just like any other TD. They don't put an asterik next to the score do they?

Bama D is sick and that is why no one will beat them.

Thee end.

We've played both. Trust me when I say Bama's defense is better. They are just absolutely stifling.

How many players on Auburn's D will play in the NFL?
How many players on Alabama's D will play in the NFL?

There's your answer.

Well unless you just get a hard-on for stats for whatever reason the point is what do you expect from each defense going forward. Scores late in the game with backups in or playing soft defense just trying to run out the clock aren't typically indicative of future results.

That being said I don't think there's an enormous gap between the two; Auburn's defense is legit and I've thought so from day one of the season.

You make a thread saying Auburn has a better defense using the average points per conference game

And then you go on to show that Alabama has allowed fewer points per conference game

Are you a moron

I love how people conveniently forget that Bama plays their second and third string in half their games in the second half because it's a blowout.
Compare first half stats if you want a better sample.

That's a great narrative until some of them are busts and people bring it up and then the Bama tune changes to...

Well all that matters is what they did in college, ie. the 2 fat lazy asses, Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy.

This is argument is lame as hell, and irrelevant. (And its closer than you think)

Agreed. I think the Iron Bowl will be a war. Last night's game was good for UA in that it made them play the full 60mins. Something they have only had to do a cpl other times this season.

As I SAIP, Bama's secondary is good, not great, but I don't think there's a better defensive line in the country right now.

Things change, but for now, I give the nod to Bama. Not my homer pick, either, but an objective one.
