I regards to being an NFL QB, what are his negatives.

He seems to have a pretty good arm, accurate. Seems like what the NFL should want.

Seriously, AJ is just sticking around because Phillip Ely's Bama bangs have taken longer than expected to grown in. Who was gonna start for Bama next year? Blake Sims? Last I checked, Sims didn't have a swoop or come from a rich white family.

I've heard Cooper Bateman is gonna take a straightener to his locks

fact. QB class is weak this year. Without looking at next years clas, I'd think he probably would have gone higher this year.

Let's see :

AJ McCarron
Mettsiah (lol)
Aaron Murray (doesn't have favorable measureables, and a history of not stepping up in big games and poor decision making will hurt him)
Tyler Bray (accuracy is off at times, but when it's on he's a top ranked QB)
Logan Thomas (literally only because of his size, another bad year and he may not even be drafted)

So you think AJ isn't top two or three out of those guys?

Either Sims, Morris, or Bateman.

No one knows for sure. Supposedly he was the best QB to throw at Bama's camp. Being Tyren's teammate probably didn't hurt, but I doubt that was a major factor.

I must have missed LSU's heritage of Bama banged QB's coming from rich white families dating back to 04.

I don't know. I mean Nuss has a good eye for QBs, so if he thinks he wants him then whatever, but Bateman has much more potential, so why take two? Drop Parker and give his place to a better player.

Do y'all think running off McCleod would have any effect on Tyren Jones? UGA would really appreciate it if we could have him.

He must have gotten a low grade.

He won't be good in the NFL so might as well come back and enjoy one more year of actually playing.

The '13 QB draft class hasn't turned out to be as strong as projected before the year, but it's likely still better than the '14 QB draft class. Plus, with something like 7 rookie QBs starting a game in the NFL this year, there probably won't be quite the demand for QBs (in terms of quantity) in the upcoming draft as in previous years.

did he hold a press conference?
quote:

Dec. 12, 2012 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron announced on Wednesday that he would return for his senior season to play for the Crimson Tide in 2013.

"I had many goals for myself when I came to the University of Alabama," McCarron said. "I have been lucky enough to achieve some of those goals, but some are still ahead of me. There were many factors in my decision to return to Alabama for my senior year but, after talking with my family and coaches, I knew it was the right choice for me.

"I love the University of Alabama, my coaches, my teammates and our fans. I am excited to have the opportunity to play with my brother (sophomore tight end Corey McCarron), continue to grow as a leader, continue to help our team win football games and develop even further as a quarterback. The NFL has long been a dream, but I think another year at Alabama can only help my chances of being successful at the next level."

McCarron, a native of Mobile, Ala., leads the nation in passing efficiency heading into the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game. His 26 touchdowns in 2012 set the Tide's single-season record as McCarron passed for 2,669 yards with only three interceptions. McCarron's 45 career touchdown passes ranks second in program history while his 24 wins are tied for fifth and his .923 winning percentage as a starter is second among UA quarterbacks.

Saban on McCarron staying for his senior season....
quote:

"We are pleased that AJ has decided to return for his senior year next season," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "He's done a great job for us and has really grown, not only as a quarterback and a player, but as a leader of our team. Like I've said before, we want to help our players make sound decisions when it comes to what is best for their future. Our goal at Alabama is to help our guys develop a career off the field by graduating, become the best football players they can be during their time here, and try to win a championship while preparing them for the possibility of playing in the NFL.

"AJ has great support from his family and the people around him. He showed very good maturity in looking at all of the factors and making an informed decision on his future. He has a chance to add to what he has already accomplished here while also better preparing himself for the next level. We're excited to have him back for his senior season."
