Andrew Luck better than all A&M quarterbacks in the history of the world combined.

If true. This says alot about what the administration thinks about their trademark. If it was so damn important to them I would imagine they wouldn't let anyone use it. But it's all about the money with a&m.

Apparently A&M created it and Seattle made it famous. Sort of like "All Along the Watchtower" if Bob Dylan was gay.

Why would the Colts want to emulate a home field disadvantage akin to the 4-9 that Aggy has posted since joining?

I know some folks are having fun with this, but this is silly:

It's not that complicated. If one pro team uses it and they are licensed to use it, there's no problem. If another team seeks a license, you tell them "no thanks". If A&M doesn't protect their trademark, they run a real risk of losing it. And then you have, hell I don't know, 100 teams calling their fans "The 12th Man" and the term becomes meaningless.

You mean the whopping $5K/year license agreement with the Seahawks? Yeah, that'll pay for 0.0011% of the stadium redevelopment. It's clearly all about the money!

You really think this term means something now?

I remembered when the University of North Mexico at Austin had to pay license fees to the mothership for the right to use "UT".

Seattle pays.

Taking other peoples property without paying is called stealing.

The Texas Aggies tried to be nice about it, but as many people know, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts is an azzhole.

Of course it does. The Seahawks and Colts apparently think so, too.

Preemptive please spare me the "you haven't done shite" line. It's not about that.

Agreed.

But nobody wants to litigate anymore. It would be a fun case. Was their actually a lawsuit in Seattle or was it all just angry letters?

Thats it? I don't see the point if that's it. "Protecting" the trade mark isn't a real reason. They own it, they can tell whoever not to use it. I just get the vibe they don't care who uses if there's a price involved, but it's only 5k so I'm failing to see the point.
*5k yearly after the $100k payment

Im not trying to be offensive but the term is already meaningless. Texas A&m building a tradition around a term they didn't coin 100% only has meaning to people who buy into it which is only the diehard aggies. Personally I find that letting anyone use at all makes it meaningless.

how? The only organization that can use the term pays us to do so. I don't see how that makes it meaningless
