Idk, that's pretty much what I was asking. All I could think of off the top of my head was State, NC State, A&M, Louisville

Not sure your criteria but UCLA has more national titles by a wide margin.

Yeah I'm aware. I really don't know much about the relationship between the schools though.

Serious question, is OM really the flagship of Mississippi? (considered such by the other SEC members?)

USC is private and UCLA is public. Not sure that matters either.

But yes we are the flagship university, and would be viewed as such by other SEC fans. However, we do a shite job of capitalizing on it.

How does a school capitalize on it? Does it really matter to anyone making a decision on where they will attend?

Flagship has nothing to do with how well you've been doing in sports.

The problem is the name of the university.

You see...

Ole Miss has two capital letters. O and M.

Meanwhile Texas A&M has three. ATM

Or heck even Mississippi State University has three.

We don't dominate the state compared to some other flagship schools, although that trend seems to be reversing throughout the country.

We did at one time, but we all know our shortcomings that have allowed us to slip, and become polarizing with a lot of people.
