You didn't need to make a new screen name to point out the obvious. I don't know if the "thug" shite is racist, but it's definitely lame and off-base. The kid looks more like a prancing goofball than "a thug". But some people will default to such characterizations.
ETA: I see you actually created your name a couple of weeks ago, so disregard that part. But yeah, it's pretty common around here to brand the amateur athletes as thugs--regardless of their actual demeanor.

i believe that the thug label derives from stealing property, having your attorney say he is "1,000,000 % sure you didnt take no money from no one", and running around an opponents field like the zoo keeper fell asleep on the job.
