Must be nice to be in a state full of oil and have a state government use those resources to prop up the schools.

Endowments are just part of it; Arkansas is #8 on the list which is high given their demographics, but they have access to money not included: they have a sugar daddy. His name is WalMart. When Arkie brags and carries on about their facilities, it's true (that walmarks money should buy y'all a vet school and dental school tho). Oregon has Phil Knight, OSU has T. Boone. They give extraordinary amounts of money away.

Wish LSU had that level of a Sugar Daddy. Ourso and Pennington families, etc. have been wonderfully generous 'tho.

Chart is way off. University of Arkansas Fayetteville endowment is $920 million. LINK

UArk system total is higher. Unlike lots of insecure SEC West schools, we list thing like enrollment and endowment specific to the Fayetteville campus.

TAMU has 12 schools in the system. That money gets split.

As much as you want to lend against. Helped us get that half billion dollar note for the stadium.

Yeah but its not the total divided by 12. It is our system, so we get the biggest share. Even just the A&M main campus chunk (somewhere around 3-4 billion) still outpaces the rest of the SEC.

I believe it goes back to the 1800's and the state set aside around 2 million acres of land in West Texas to fund "higher education" and oil was dicovered on stretches of the property and many of the old wells are now producing again...thanks to fracking.Pretty much ALL the money goes to UT and A&M.

Very accurate, when the land was given it was basically worthless desert. Oil and Gas changed everything.
