"Welcome to the SEC!

This is a quick update on our flagship, Texas A&M University. We will have great news on all our institutions coming soon in the newsletter at the end of the month.

As you are all aware, our Heisman Trophy winning, freshman quarterback has been very popular this summer! I hope you saw that I recently supported him at the opening of the Texas A&M School of Law in Fort Worth.

While I did confirm that it was a personal view, my motivation was based on the fact we have had ongoing and productive dialogue with the NCAA during their investigation, as required. However, some members of the media have chosen to declare #2 guilty with no evidence whatsoever.

Darren Rovell of ESPN, who broke this story, has been duped before. During his report on Johnny Manziel, he cites unnamed sources who refuse to provide an interview or any tangible proof. In fact, his "named source," Drew Tieman (initially referred to as the broker), was reportedly booked twice for possession of marijuana and placed on four years probation. He has taken down his Facebook page, changed his telephone number and is refusing attempts to be interviewed by the NCAA. It is surprising that the nation's largest sports channel would support publication with this lack of corroboration.

I look forward to the start of this football season and am confident that we'll once again exceed expectations during our second season in the SEC. We should all be very proud of what Coach Sumlin and his staff are accomplishing here in Aggieland.

And as students at Texas A&M begin their fall semester Monday, I want to assure them all they are making the most important investment of their lives -- one that will provide a $1 million return.

The university ranks first among Texas public colleges and universities in highest return on investment (ROI) according to Affordable Colleges Online which factor in tuition and fee costs, and lifetime earnings for graduates. The ROI attributed to Texas A&M is $1,057,000, only $12,000 below what the online organization attributes to Rice University, the overall leader in Texas.

In a similar report released in May, Texas A&M was ranked fourth in the nation among the most affordable colleges with a high ROI, outranked only by Georgia Tech, State University in New York (SUNY) at New Paltz and the University of Virginia. These rankings come on the heels of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine release of the "top 100 best values" in public schools, which ranked Texas A&M 18th in the nation and tops in Texas.

That value can only grow as we continue to show the world that we are the best institution of higher education in the United States. Welcome to the SEC!

Gig 'em!

- John Sharp, Chancellor"

There was no way he would release this without clearance from the current firm working on the "investigation". It was a calculated move imo. They're calling ESPN's bluff.

He's right.

Regardless of Manziel's level of guilt, this has been more or less a witch hunt on ESPN's part. To call the level of reporting that has occurred sophomoric might be too high of praise.

That is a pretty "in-your-face" statement. They may know something we don't.

I'm not a huge fan of the release because other than to sway public opinion, I'm not sure what purpose it serves. However, I do agree with the point that this certainly got cleared with legal which says a lot about where this investigation is.

Absolutely

There is ZERO chance a statement like that is allowed out without a mighty fine knowledge of the situation. Otherwise the risk of it blowing up in your face is just too great.

So why doesn't Johnny Boy just come out and say he didn't do it? The fact that he hasn't is what really tells you where the case is at.

God damn - frick you!

All of you pieces of shite did this same damn thing to Cam in 2010.

"Well if they're innocent, why doesn't his father go on live TV and read his bank statement from the last ten years? Because they're guilty!"

He is waiting on kicking Sabans arse again, then sign him an autograph for one of those $100.00 Bama handshakes.
