Now that Dodds is gone, it seems awfully petty for your side not to at least be open to the game. If you are really the dominate Texas team you claim to be, your attitude should be "anywhere, anytime"

We're open to it. All games at Kyle and on the SEC Network in perpetuity with a constitutional amendment enacting the same into law.

I'm the oddball here who would like to see the game renewed, sooner rather than later. But the OP's link has thrown everyone off and into a tizzy. There is no evidence that Texas wants to play this game again. None.

I want to win the SEC first. A victory in Atlanta, and then I want to play them. That could be next year. Who knows?

You're not new here. That got a bite? Really? Do you know who I am? Do you know what goes on here?

I'm from Texas and I haven't talked to anyone that wanted the rivalry to end.

Deloss is on record as saying that the majority of texas fans didn't want to renew the game. Maybe he was lying about that, but that was the story. Look it up. It wouldn't be the first time he lied.

However, there was also a news report that a certain Big 12 school had told the Cotton Bowl committee that they didn't want to play A&M in the Cotton Bowl last year. Then Oklahoma got the bid so it was a moot point. But it is COMMON knowledge that texas wanted to avoid playing A&M at all costs while Deloss was there. He is still there.

I could go along with this. The next problem is scheduling years in advance, though, and possibly going to a 9-game SEC schedule throws another wrench into the works. But that's just details. If both schools want it to happen then they'll make it happen.

Backing off a bit of my earlier statement, I'm just not sure it matters a lot. Yeah, we're both in Texas, so it naturally matters. But the demise of Bonfire to me really diminishes the importance of the game. If I were a student right now I'm not sure I'd see a Texas game as more important than a Baylor game.

Every person in my life who's closest to me--family & friends--is an Ag.
None of em want to play the horns.
All of these "Do it for the fans!" histrionics are misplaced/unneeded.
But I'm grateful for the overwhelming sentiment.

Everything you said could be true, but I maintain that the actual root of the animosity and aversion to the game was Dodds.

Dodds isn't gone until August of 2014.

and that would be wrong. Sure some people might want it back, I hope it comes back eventually, but the majority of both sides don't want it to continue now
