Kenny Hill didn't make his own nickname. He was asked by a reporter in the locker room which of the names being thrown around by the public he liked best and then she said them all. So he answered that reporter's question.

This sounds like picking your own nickname to me. It may have been from a list, but he still picked is own nickname did he not?

No, he picked his favorite out of nicknames he had already been given

Further, while the nickname is indeed horrible, I've decided to go all in. He's Kenny Trill to me now. I never used Johnny Football, but I'm all in on Kenny Trill.

You are one stupid mother fricker. Picking your favorite nickname from a list of nicknames that other people have already been calling you is not "dubbing yourself" that nickname, you dumb frick.

No, it's not - and you know it. You are probably one of those a-hole cajuns who were rejoicing when you thought Speedy Noil was going to prison, weren't you? Being a liar goes hand in hand with being a jackass.

He could have shown a bit more humility when asked, coulda said something like "hopefully our play this year will continue to justify a nickname" big ask for a young kid just after a huge win though.
But yeah, I agree, picking a nickname from a selection provided by your teamates is not at all the same thing as nicknaming yourself and then informing everyone of your decision.

Absolutely. He should have refused to answer the question, but it's a lot to ask a kid that young to have that level of experience answering questions like that.

Agreeing for the sake of argument... so what?

He was already being called Kenny Football on ESPN. If you're Kenny Hill, and you're going to labor under an artificial, forced nickname for the rest of your football career, you'd be smart and do yourself the favor of steering the process towards a nickname that doesn't grate on your nerves. Possibly one you even like.

And if frickwits on the rant bitch about it... oh well, he'll probably survive.

Why so mad bro? Don't like your QB dubbing himself with a stupid arse nickname like Kenny trill? Don't worry, I'd be upset too.

I get that this would have been the most humble way to go, but given how much announcers/commentators just DRIVE these nicknames into the ground "Johnny Football", "Honey Badger", "RG3"... I completely understand not wanting to get tagged w/ a name you hate. And if you have the opportunity to pick one you like the best... bully for you.

Because I get sick and tired of LSU fans getting free reign on this board to lie about kids who go to A&M and openly rejoice at reports that they did things that will result in them being thrown into prison. There is no accountability for the shite LSU posters say about kids who go to other programs.

He could have said "No nickname. I'm Kenny hill" so that the media would have given him a nickname. He made the choice to name himself Kenny trill, whether from a list or not is irrelevant, which is the definition of dubbing oneself. Sorry y'all can't grasp that.
