quote:I enjoyed those LSU-A&M games in the 80's. To me, it would feel a bit more legit and less forced than us vs Arky. Nothing against the Piggies, as they've done their best to make a rivalry with us, but I think you guys have more potential to hate (and I mean that in a good way, like Auburn-Georgia) . Probably the same with Arky and you, too.
As for the future I sure hope LSU vs A&M does in fact become the end of year game for each. One can dream, and that is mine.
I suppose it would be funny to hear A&M entertain the idea of playing Texas sometime in the regular season, "if it doesn't interfere with our preparing for LSU". I'm sure that would go over well in Austin

God that would be hilarious. Texas would have a hemorrhage.

It sucks we beat our own in the SEC. You have to deal with boise and now kansas states. I don't think they would be undefeated in our league whatsoever but o well............we need that damn playoff soon.

TigerBait2008, help me understand something here.
I know the Rose Bowl has to take the PAC-12 and B1G champions unless one or both are in the NCG and Nebraska is favored over Wisconsin.
But if Oregon ends up in the NCG, do they have to take a PAC-12 team (either Stanford or even USCw) or can they pick from another conference? If so where do they fall in the picking order?

What I'm having trouble figuring is in what order the bowls pick the open slots (I can't seem to find anything on that).
As an example, if there were no BCS standalone NCG, the six BCS AQ conferences and the four BCS bowls would line up their (probable) champions as follows:
Rose--Oregon v. Nebraska
Fiesta--K-State v. at large
Orange--Florida State v. at large
Sugar--Alabama v. at large
Notre Dame gets one at large slot as it will most likely finish in the top 8 (and probably be unbeaten) and Louisville gets the Big East slot as its champion. This would leave one open at large slot and this most likely ends up being filled by an SEC team. And it is unlikely that any non-AQ team is going to finish top 12 or top 16 and ahead of Louisville (sorry LA Tech).
But with a likely Oregon v. K-State matchup in the standalone NCG, in what order do the bowls pick the open slots? And again, what are the provisions for the Rose Bowl since Oregon is most likely not going there?

The reality is LSU lost at home to Bama. Deal with it and stop with the moral fricking victories. Some of your morons on this board are making the LSU fan base look like a bunch of bleeding vaginas.

Who said anything about moral victories? I'm just trying to illustrate that just bc they beat Bama doesn't mean they are #1-better than us and #2-going to the BCS.
We are better than them as proven on the field in their house. They can DWI.
I prefer LSU in Fiesta bc I live in Scottsdale and won't have to pay to travel. I don't think we get in BCS though. More than likely we go to cotton and tamu gets lesser bowl. SOS not gonna leap us.

This is purely from an overall point of view- if you're worthy, you will have the shot at future BCS games. But right now, you have the chance to flex some new muscle in your home state, at Texas' expense. Show them who calls the shots now. It's why you left the Big 12 in the first place.
Naw. It would show them up more to go to the Fiesta and rock OU, and have a LSU beat them in the Cotton. This way, saying "A&M is essentially still a Big 12 team" can't be used to explain A&M's success is due to the SEC being overrated(which is their narrative.
LSU needs a new mindset. Your boring grind it out style is always going to boil down to at least one loss a year against Alabama, and a flashy star QB is the wave of the future. You need A&M to go to a BCS bowl instead of you to prove this. Deal with it.

Ain't scared of no team. If we have to whoop up someone else in the Fiesta........I'm cool. I would probably be more excited to slaughter Texas in the cotton however. Why do I need a new mindset?
Posted on 11/14/12 at 3:35 pm to Scoob
Yea, we are saying there are rumors flying around that they won't play us in the Cotton. But why is that a knock on us? I like that this has become a story. It makes them look bad.
But liking that DeLoss is making Texas look weak doesn't mean I want the Cotton above the Fiesta. I want to be in the best bowl possible.

Also, to TeLeFaWx -
What I mean about needing a new mindset- it seems like a fair number of your people were stating, basically, that A&M would not be in the Cotton because Texas didn't want to play them there. As if A&M would meekly acknowledge Texas' decisions and desires.
It's fine to go to a bigger bowl. The point I was making is- don't fricking go accepting that Texas gets whatever it wants. If you're going to be, as you strive to be, a big boy in the SEC, it's time to stop that shite. You are the better team in the better conference; it's time to get your state in order.

LSU fans need to stop living vicariously through A&M.
First off, I would like to say frick you and 2nd you will not be going to the Fiesta Bowl so if by living vicariously through A&M means what I said above then I must be guilty

Arky part 2. They will be almost but not quite the real thing. I hate aggies and everything they THINK they are. Send their losing asses back to the southwest conference for all I care!
To put it simple, those dumbasses fired a coach that consistently won 10 games a year and kept them in the top 10.

Jesus.. I totally don't get why LSU fans are getting so defensive and pathetic on this board since Saturday. Wild generalizations and making absolute conjectures about the future followed abruptly by claiming the other fan base is stupid or arrogant....

Where do you live?

I want our fight song changed. Lot's do not. How lame is it now to say, "saw Varsity's horns off..." at BDS or the Swamp, etc. Lame if you ask me. Very lame. My dad (class of '65) is even on board now with a change in the fight song.
To me that makes you sound even more obsessed with Texas. Your fight sing should be a sacred tradition, not something that changes so easy. I don't know when the last time we played Ga Tech was, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but we still sing "Send the yellowjackets to a watery grave."
Trying to turn your back on all things U Tex seems a little overboard to prove a point. Which seems like they are still on your mind.

Agree with what you said, and most Ags do, too, for the record.
The Aggie War Hymn ain't changing regardless of whom we happen to face on the gridiron.

This, regarding whole bowl scenario. And no, it isn't a flame.
As much as I hear the eager chatter about how JFF is the bigger draw for the Fiesta over LSU, I hear something else: "Texas won't face us in the Cotton".
You guys need to change that. You're in the SEC now. Texas doesn't decide shite for you anymore; you get equal bowl revenue as LSU, Alabama, Florida... and Kentucky and Vandy for that matter. You now have LSU, Bama, UGA, Fla and the rest of the SEC on your side, and we have your back. Want to go to a BCS game? Fine, we all do, but the Fiesta isn't for all the marbles; and this season, you have the very legitimate chance to shove your foot right up Texas' arse regarding the Cotton.
So Texas doesn't want to face you? So fricking what? They didn't want the Champions Bowl in New Orleans either, and we see how that went.

Yeah Aggies, show Texas that you don't care about them anymore by turning down a BCS Bowl to play them in the Cotton. That's it. Good plan. The SEC has your back.
