Keep in mind that, in the Big XII, you basically played all your non-conference games in September, then switched over to conference play with almost no-nonconference games after that, while in the SEC, conference play is interspersed with non-conference play beginning in mid-September. I'm sure that was a factor--I'd be surprised if USC or Oregon were going to come to Kyle any earlier in September than they had to, meaning that those dates probably fell into a window where there was a possible conflict with SEC play.

I remember LSU doing something similar after the previous SEC expansion. A&M fans didn't seem to approve.

By playing a bunch of cupcakes, they're only robbing their own fans of an awesome experience. We're only guaranteed 12 games a year... IMO, I want them to be as exciting/enjoyable as possible... not four rent-a-wins.

IF they win...otherwise you just agve your fans a loss.
Wins are whats needed to get to better bowls and possible BCS bowls.
The SEC is strong enough to boost any teams SOS so these "for the fans" games are pointless.
I hope AU never does this.

They took a risk they didnt need. Had Bama lost to UM, they would have had 2 losses and not played for the title. It was a risk that was unneeded. They could have easily played a crap team and still gotten the goal they were seeking.
