I keep thinking back to when Saban first came to Alabama and got things headed back in the right direction. The LSU folks howled about what a turn-coat he was and lamented about how he wasn't their coach, but their rivals coach.

I don't know much about this writer but gumps and barners post Glen Guilbeau articles all the time so I'm not too worried about it

Yeah and the entire existence of the SECr is owed to the mass influx of Alabama fans who signed up to TD.com to gloat about it. Any other website would have banned your entire fanbase (like a certain Alabama board that has STILL banned all LSU fans).

I did skip the comments section initially and holy hell
One thing that's clear is that stupid people are terrible at attempting humorous insult names. I saw "Deadbrainsky" and "Scarblowsky," among others.
Dumb people suck at being funny, but the ironic thing is that their suckage is funny.

Bama gained an awful lot of "lifelong" fans in 2007. The Heat are envious.

im actually glad saban is at another sec school now. the league is much better having more than one great coach unlike the spurrier years at florida (sorry tenn, fulmer was a step below)
that being said I hate losing to bama.

Scarbinsky has been fired from Al.com

Talking about talibanfans.com? That site bans everyone.

Linking to a scarbinsky article is worse than lining to bleacher report

Are his comments about Bama post Bear true or not?

The better question is why Kentucky and A&M fell off after Bear Bryant left those schools.
Hell, they made a movie about Bear's time at A&M ... so we know he instilled his system there before he left.
But it also begs the question as to why Deitzel didn't win big after he left LSU.
Or why Zook couldn't win at Florida after Spurrier left or why Urbie did win after Zook left.
I think each situation is different and it all goes back to chemistry.
LSU made two good hires in a row and fortunately for them the good chemistry was not disrupted. That's hard to do, cudos to LSU.
SCÀR is the most interesting case study of them all.

Why didn't LSU give the other coaches the talent and tools to succeed?
No offense turtlehead, but how do you think he won the SEC and Sugar Bowl his first year? Those weren't his recruits. How did he win the National Championship in his third year? Weren't those the previous coach's recruits?
I mean if Miles has this stigma, why not Saban? I mean he did the exact same thing at Bama with the previous coach's recruits. Are we going to place that same stigma on him again?

where would Saban be today if he had coached at , let's say west virginia - instead of LSU?
LSU gave Saban the talent and tools to succeed.
+1
But no one here will admit this is true.

Saban deserves every bit of credit for LSU from 2000 through 2004.
Miles deserves credit for 2005-now.
Giving a coach credit for a team he's not even coaching is just dumb.
