SEC wuot allow it. SMU got it partly because the SWC was ran by a bunch of corrupt hoodlums.

Longhorns / Aggies and everyone else was just as dirty. they used SMU as a distraction and scapegoat to how bad it was. they allowed them to take the fall.

Not hard to recruit to Oxford once you sell the fact that Ole Miss isn't racist and we have tons of white girls. The only town in the SEC that competes with Oxford is Athens. You have a good year with Cam Newton and think yall are relevant.

There is no death penalty because you eventually get to play again, but you are never the same. More like a Zombie penalty.

If we only had one good year, and aren't relevant, what do you think that makes OM?

Was that a reply to me? I know what the death penalty is and does to a program. Also happen to live about 2 miles from SMU

I could see the NCAA doing something like not allowing a team in the SEC to get their full share of SEC network revenue for a few years

the ncaa wouldn't be able to do that

The NCAA will never give the death penalty again.

What could be worse?

Not to mention the fact every LOI signed there now comes with a set of keys and a fresh set of wheels and tires from Hot Wheelz in Mobile.

Hilarious to me that some of you people act as if paying players is unique to certain schools or that the NCAA has the authority to do anything about it. The punishments handed down to schools recently - USC, Penn State, Ohio State, UNC, Oregon - have been meager at best. Penn State was the only program that faced sanctions that stood to set the program back for years to come, and all of those were overturned last year.

We're probably a maximum of five-years removed from institutionalizing pay-for-play regardless. The "we suck because we don't cheat" excuse is lamer now than it has ever been before.
