If Gus had a Nick Marshall type QB, Auburn might be dangerous. But Franklin has a terrible arm. If it were just adequate, they might be very tough.

How long you get to pay is what matters. If its $14 million over 7 years that is easier to budget than $10 million over two.

Part of the reason this season means so much to the Aggies is we would owe Sumlin $15 million within 30 days if we fired him after this season. That is like paying off a $50 million dollar Les Miles-type buyout when considering short term budgeting (aka who you can afford to hire next).

This thread is about Auburn, why bring Kentucky into it, unless you want to direct attention from Auburn's troubles...

this sounds normal to me, maybe even a might low.

you don't seem to understand coaches contracts in the SEC.

I can understand thinking an Auburn loss in this year's Iron Bowl is a foregone conclusion, but to refer to it in past tense?

We'd probably retain some of the defensive staff. They've done a nice job this year, especially Travis Williams.

It's not like there's any great options out there anyway except Tom Herman and why would he want to go to Auburn of all places when he would have his pick of schools to go to? They really don't have much of a choice except to keep Gus for at least one more year.

Saban's buyout $0.00

That's what he would owe Alabama if he wanted to leave for another job. If Bama wanted to fire him without cause, he's owed the balance left on the contract - which was $23 million in 2014.

I still don't understand why Auburn ran off Tuberville.

Look am like hose guys will really need to struggle to get fired. Mason should be most likely coach to get fired unless he has a crazy buy out too.
