My cousin and I were even with the goal line in the first few row of the bleachers, ready to storm the field. He knew it was five downs before the fifth play went off. And no, he didn't get in - even on the fifth down.

Oregon-Oklahoma a few years ago was pretty bad.

It reminds me of how much I miss the b-12. And I don't. What a miserable conference, even to this day.

That game was Big 8, but I know what you mean. Big 12 made it awful

That onside kick? OMFG I absolutely loved that shite. The refs had to get fired for that right? The replay guys? That was just unbelievable.

That's why Georgia Tech should be the unanimous national champion of 1990. They were the only team that year to finish the season without a loss (11-0-1). Colorado should have finished the season 9-2-1.

1) It didn't go 10 yards before it was touched

2) An Oklahoma player CLEARLY recovered the football

I'm pretty sure those refs got suspended after that game. I just watched the highlights from it and they blew a PI call on OU's defense on the Oregon's GW drive, OU tipped a pass but still got called for PI.

And holy shite I forgot how good Dennis Dixon was.

Interestingly enough. Joe Castiglione was the AD at MU for the 5th down, and the AD at OU for the Oregon vs Oklahoma shitshow. Two of the worse calls in history.

That was worse, really. Because it was reviewed.

When you have part time officials you get half arse officiating. Just surprised it has only happened once in the last 25 years.

People are always quick to place all the blame on the refs, but the fact is the majority of the confusion for players AND refs came from the chain gang not flipping the down marker from 2 to 3 during a timeout IIRC. There was a long break for some reason and by the time play resumed everyone was looking at 2nd down on the markers.

Now the refs absolutely should have realized the error sooner, but the fact that even most of the coaches for both sides didn't realize it until AFTER the fifth down occurred says a lot about the level of confusion.

#1 is a common human error (though I don't know how replay screwed it up). #2 was a massive screw-up.
