I will say I've always enjoyed hearing the different versions of the greased train track story though.

Would someone mind telling it again ... and try to tell the historically accurate one if you will please.

That was AU/GaTech

ROTC cadets greased the tracks coming into Auburn the night before the game; train from Atlanta came in and slid all the way to Loachapoka (about a ten minute drive down the road). Tech had to walk back into town, and proceeded to get their butts beat to the tune of 40-something to 0

No way that's 8 whole days

Is 8 the number of fluke wins by auburn?

No, that number is actually closer to 240. The Pigs made quite a run at the Vols last year for the offseason NC, but fell short.

Always my favorite game of the year; love the rivalry. I enjoy beating Tech the most, and hate losing to them the most, but with all my old friends who went to Auburn, it's always a fun time.

One of the 8 ties, should really be an Auburn victory. Seems like the refs favored Georgia from way back. 1899, the game was called for darkness by some ref named Rowbotham. Auburn was winning 11-6, driving on Georgia's 20 yd line with 30 seconds left in the game. Rowbotham stopped the game, erased the scores and made it 0-0 tie.

Even the Georgia players were angry that Auburn wasn't credited with the win-

quote:

Here’s their halfback, last name of Young, talking to the Journal: “Auburn won the game by hard work and should have been given it. It was very distressing that the game should have been called when it was, and no one stands more ready to accord the men from Alabama a victory—a clean, hard-fought-for victory—than I and other members of the Georgia eleven.”

Oh, and most of the players on Georgia weren't even students and should have been ineligible.

Georgia is the better team, but funny things seem to happen in this game each year. Never underestimate a team with a sewing machine on the sidelines.

Neither team is particularly strong this year...but Auburn seems to be finding their footing and UGA is still searching for answers. Should be an interesting game. I look forward to this game every year.

But until you can contribute multiple deaths to the rivalry, until you can cite history where the two schools tipped over bleachers and started shooting at one another or where the two schools got in fights where Calvary sabers were drawn and blood shed ... until you can say the mafia came down with fake tickets and oversold the game that caused another near riot ... until you can say you brought a cow out and declared her homecoming queen of your rival and the rival fell for it ... and so on and so forth ... and until you can call it the longest "continual" rivalry in the Deep South, the second longest in the country ...

Usually when someone says "until you [this], and until you [that]", it's typically followed up with..."THEN you can [whatever]"

Your post was just a long rambling collection of words with no conclusion. Like Abe Simpson telling a story that eventually goes nowhere.

So you want credit for a win over a team that was made up of players who weren't students? At most the record should be changed to reflect only 7 ties with no wins or loss changes
