I heard a guy on the radio say there could up to 5 inches of rain dumped in Athens tomorrow with the majority of it falling during the game.

When's the last time a huge game had that kind of weather?

Another one, wish I had been able to watch. A&M at VA Tech in '03, during Hurricane Isabel.
I know what the weather was like a couple hours east in Richmond.

If this happens the game will be cancelled due to lightening.

That was 2001 I think. I went to it. It was at Legion Field and pretty damn miserable.

5 inches of rain during the game would be crazy. Heaviest rain I ever sat through was November 19, 1988 when Jimmy Johnson brought his Miami team into Tiger Stadium and beat us 44-3 in a monsoon. I was only 9, I remember telling my dad as we sat there that the hurricanes brought the hurricane with them. You could see huge sheets coming down through the lights, and our punter kicked a couple of punts about 10 yds. I looked up the rain total for that day just now and it was barely over an inch. I can't imagine 5 inches. Here's an excerpt written by a Miami columnist back then:
quote:

It was like something straight from a Cecil B. DeMille movie. Cue the late-night gales. Cue the rain blowing eerily in slanted sheets. Cue a visiting team appropriately named the Hurricanes. Cue the LSU Tigers being exiled from their own stadium, the University of Miami embarrassing them with a 44-3 romp

He’s probably getting 5 inches from what the NWS is saying and not local weather news, as NWS Atlanta has not budged on shocking totals although their map probably needs to be shifted east a bit.

I went to a LSU Arkansas game in Little Rock back in the late 90's and it poured the entire game. That stadium had about 5,000 people in it by halftime. It was cold too. Totally sucked!

Y'know, I saw that thread title. I saw that crispy was the last person to comment on it. And I knew, just knew, I should probably not click on it.

Then, of course, I did. And snorted Wild Turkey 101 through my nose and almost killed myself.

But my sinuses are now as clear as they've ever been, so ...
