ETA: Just looked it up and Dak had 154 yds rushing and our 2 RBs had a combined 128. We had 299 total rushing yds vs them at Kyle Field

Who didnt have 300 yards rushing on us last year?

The same people talking about how A&M had the worst defense in SEC history are also talking about how great their offense is based off the performance against us.

We should be much improved. Cocks seem pretty sure they will be facing the exact same team minus JFF.

Your defense or your whole team?

Will TCU finally have a decent QB now that another one of Manziel's backups plays for them?

The defense. No way its that bad. Now obviously the O won't be as good, but Sumlin always fields a good O.

Not sure about the team as a whole but, logically, our D-line should improve based on experience alone, not to mention new red shirts stepping in and MG. Again, this is what I think will happen but who really knows.

Something can be said for experience, sure. But in your last game against Duke the defense was one of the worst I've ever seen. I don't expect them to be "much improved" a mere 8 months later. They might go from 14th in the league to 12th or so.

Wat about the D in the 2nd half? How were they against Duke?

Actually you can fix a lot in 8 months. Seen it plenty of times. Not saying we will be world beaters but not sure we will need to be.

After giving up 38 points in the first half to DUKE, they really tightened up and only allowed 10 more on the way to a dramatic comeback win.

Against Duke.

I mean we did get the number one recruit in the nation, who also happens to be a defensive end. I expect him to lead the SEC in sacks and TFL his three years at A&M.

Experience is always a major factor, but even moreso here because we had so many true freshman out on the field. And w/r/t the Chicken Bowl, our best defender, Darian Claiborne, was suspended for that game.

But the biggest difference, imo, will be in the pass rush. Last year we essentially only had an injured Julien Obioha and a rail-thin Daeshon Hall (6'6", 220#) to man the edge. Now Hall is up to 250, Myles Garrett is coming in at 260, and Qualen Cunningham can come in on passing downs.

We're still going to be a young defense, but we were playing last year with basically one good freshman defensive class, and that's it. Mike Sherman left a lot of offensive firepower to Kevin Sumlin, but almost none on defense. No one is saying we're going to be elite, just that we have a good chance to be an average defense. Considering Snyder has already fielded an average (at worst) defense in 2012, I'm not sure why that seems so outlandish.

I think you meant to say average at best. That defense was ranked about 60th nationally.

Yep. Hawgs probably win be 3 TDs. Haven't you heard? Terrible defense + no Johnny = winless season for A&M. Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted.

Look at yards per play, not yards per game. Defenses of teams that employ a hurry up offense defend more plays than defenses of teams that employ Bert-ball.

Stonehog, are you here to argue or is your football iq really that low. Serious question.
