Although you need practice with your trolling, our O will be 6-7 and D should be in the 8 range. We showed some signs of grit the last two games and we don't lose (as) many on defense going into 2014.

Over the last 6 years the record is 3-3.

Wasn't trolling with my post. Was looking for honest conversation about the 2014 version of LSU. Sorry for the typos and misspelling of words, auto correct sometimes palaces the wrong word and i was too lazy to go back through to check for errors. After all this is sports board not an English Comp board.
Thanks to those that participated .
So basically, my thoughts were correct. Very sketchy on Offense with a potentially stout Defense. Will come down to how well the O gels and if the D can carry the load .
LSU could surprise and win it all or decline further. I don't think either happen, a solid 9-3 season with a bowl win and then 2015 loads of potential to make a legitimate NC run. Very similar to Bama.

our defense should be pretty nasty. the main concern is defensive tackle, but hey that was our problem this past year i dont see much of a drop off happening there. the passing game doesn't have the luxury of leaning on the running game. magee and hilliard have shown flashes of greatness, but we will miss hill a lot.

Never seems to a problem for LSU. Seems like y'all just reload that position better than anyone else in the SEC. Linebacker is where LSU has struggled to find a super star. Lately.

well yes our LBs were a little disappointing this pass season

this past season we didn't have a huge impact in the middle. not only that but we usually rotate like 8-10 guys on the dline. not this past year though

strengths -
1) offensive line looks mostly intact and that sounds promising for the running game (which will likely be the foundation of the offense).
2) defense other than the defensive tackle position looks strong. the secondary is very promising.
weaknesses -
1) new QB - with a first year starter expect some ups and downs in spite of good coaching
2) new WRs - loss of the top two WRs always hurts even with talented guys to step in. RBs won't likely be an issue despite the probable loss of Hill. Two experienced RBs return plus the #1 prospect in teh country LF will likely push for playing time by a few games into the season.

The point in "have our number' makes me think you someone figured us out and we just can't seem to get over the hump of beating Ole miss.

Everyone is going to be caught off guard when Hayden Rettig comes out and shines as the starter.

Offense
returning starters (as of now) 6
OL - 4, Collins is expected to return.
2 backups saw extensive action.
Both had at least one start
TE - played three every game. All three return plus #2 TE in the country from the '13 class.
FB - returning starter
WR - very and I mean very little production returns.
RB - return two SEC quality experienced backs. They finished second and third on team in rushing in '13.
QB - VERY LITTLE experience. Does have game winning drive VS the hawgs and bowl start and win to his credit.
Strengths - solid experienced O-line. One of the best OCs in the country.
Weakness - inexperience at WR and QB
Returning contributors
OL 6
TE 3
FB 2
WR 1
RB 2
QB 1
defense returning starters 7
DL - 2 Both starting DEs
Return Two DEs and 2 DTs that rotated in.
LB - 2 - MLB and OLB
Return another two with major PT, one of which that has about 6-8 starts to his credit.
DB - 3 - two corners and a safety. There are actually seven with some level of starting experience to their credit.
strengths - secondary and experience at DE. Chief as DC
weakness - DT
returning contributors
DL - 6
LB - 4
DB - 8
STs - return LS, punter, kickoff man and FG kicker.
'14 record. Don't know enough about what other teams return. If you had a gun to my head forcing me to make a prediction. Standard for LES 10-2.
Watch out for '15. LSU will be stacked.

2010 = 2014 - 2 losses
2011 = 2015 - 1 loss and a trip to the NCG to coincide with our other every-4-years beast seasons (03,07,11)

Starters gone:
Defense- Loston, Johnson, Ferguson, T. Jones, Barrow
Offense- Mettenberg, T. Turner, Beckham, Landry, Hill, Blue, Boone, Wright, Copeland, possibly Collins
2 starting receivers + 2 back up
1 starting RB + 4th string
1starting FB
2 starting offensive lineman
1 starting QB
2 starting defensive lineman
2 starting LB
1 starting safety
A lot of experience leaving but LB a lot of kids got playing time with Jones being in and out of the line up. Loston and Freak were up and down during their careers at LSU. The offensive line hurts the most when breaking in a new QB with receivers.

really?? I hope you're not a professional estimator..[/quote]
Without checking I thought it was reasonable. You lost:
QB-Mettenberger
FB-Copeland
RB-Hill
RB-Blue
WR-Beckham (probably)
WR-Landry
85% would seem to be pretty close....am I missing something? (Besides a brain?) (Thought I would save you the trouble of saying that!)

The times I saw him play he looked pretty good! he might actually turn out to be a strength....could provide the spark to your offense to go along with Hilliard, Magee and Fournette.

Well Blue really shouldn't count as he became 4th string last year, so not like his production actually hurts. Copeland is a FB and was a better blocker than anything, I think Neighbors/Jones can fill that spot equally as good.
Losing Beckham, Landry, and essentially the #3 receiver in Boone hurts.
