Fun team to watch. After that Ole Miss game, there wasn't a force on Earth that was gonna stop them. I'll always remember that Oklahoma WR getting his soul knocked out of him by Major Wright ......I think that's who it was at least.

It was Major Wright. Under today's rules he would have been ejected on the first play for targeting.

I always thought he was a little bit early. Is there a still picture of the impact?

He timed it just about perfectly.

He was early if you watch it in slow mo. But if you watch it in real time, it almost looks like he got there simultaneously with the ball.

Texas's rhythm was gone by the time bowl season came around. They needed some late heroics to beat a very underwhelming OSU team in the Fiesta Bowl.

2008 florida vs usc would have been the best game. Tebows offense with harvin and those quick arse rbs, usc had a comically good defense tbat year. Urbs against carrol. Could have been great but usc dropped the soap against like oregon state or some team like that.

Florida in 2008 was probably one of the best SEC teams that didn't go undefeated.

The championship game matchup was fine. Oklahoma showed up to play and they were competitive, but they couldn't score at will like they had all season. OU was averaging 54 points a game and Florida held them to 14.

I don't think Texas or USC's offenses would've faired much better.

Bama gave them a hell of a game, but that Florida team was just too talented.

There were a lot of great teams that year. Oklahoma, USC, Alabama.

USC vs. Florida would have been awesome with USC's Defense vs. Tebow.

USC had the #1 rated D, Florida was #2.

Oklahoma wasn't even in the Top 10...and they only lost by 10 and only gave up 24 points.

USC allowed just 6.7 points per game, while Florida allowed 8.33.

USC was #13 in total offense, Florida #9.

That would have been the best matchup easily. Two almost even offenses and the top 2 defenses in the country.

Game would have been 10-7.

Top 10 scoring defenses for last decade:

1. 2000 Florida State 11-2 6.54 [ 1]
2. 2008 Southern Cal 12-1 6.71 [ 1]
3. 2005 Ohio State 10-2 7.26 [ 1]
4. 2001 Miami (Florida) 12-0 7.54 [ 1]
5. 2003 Louisiana State 13-1 7.74 [ 1]
6. 2008 Florida 13-1 8.33 [ 2]
7. 2004 Southern Cal 13-0 8.80 [ 1]
8. 2002 Kansas State 11-2 9.27 [ 1]
9. 2000 Oklahoma 13-0 9.56 [ 2]
10. 2002 Ohio State 14-0 9.61 [ 2]
