13 years ago Mike Leach gave one of the greatest post-game "pep" talks in history.

I heard the basic gist of this speech from my Dad dozens of times, usually after I had done something pretty damn stupid, but a few times just because he felt like telling me where he stood on the direction my life was taking in general.
Its akin to cooking a gumbo or listening to your favorite rock ballad. It begins with barely a simmer that just grows at a beautifully steady rate. And you eventually realize, this dude has been mother fricking me for 6 whole minutes without losing his own shite, the pot is boiling hot, and every word has been the Gods honest truth.
And realize, he gave this speech after their last regular season game and AFTER they had just beaten Baylor.
I hope we kick his arse this weekend, but regardless, I will never find it in myself to not like Mike Leach.

As a lifelong football fan, and an appreciator of Leach in general, I am ashamed to admit I had never seen this beauty.

One with a Masters and Law degree and the other lucky to have a fishing license.
Yet, when you consider how many men have strived to be in their position, they both are in (or have recently been) the top 1% of the same profession at the same level.
And I would pay good money to have them both in the car with me on the cross country road trip from the other thread.

I wouldn't be surprised if we did. And if Leach gives that exact speech to the 2019 team, I wouldn't have been surprised if were 8-2 after 10 games.
It is the beauty of college football and what the hell it takes to get into the mindset and be able to motivate 18-22 yr old kids.

It’s a shame Craig James’ son couldn’t hear this outstanding speech through the crack in the closet door. This is a message both he and his dad could have used.
