@ least Mizzou's SEC East title didn't go to our football players' heads

Mizzou player quotes from start of spring practice:
"They've got to come through Missouri to win the East."
"Everybody's coming after us."
"We can do more than we did last year."

I know you lost the two dominating DEs but honestly your team looks really good next year on paper. I could see them winning the East again.

It can for certain kinds of players for sure, Mauk obviously is one of those swagger guys who *needs* to be saying stuff like that to play at his best. What alarms me is some of those quotes came from Darius White, from whom a more appropriate quote might be, say, "I actually had nothing to do with Mizzou's success last year, so I hope I can just prove I belong on the field at the SEC level" that sorta thing.

Our two starting DEs for next season, Shane Ray and Markus Golden, were more productive per snap last season than Sam or Ealy.
Markus Golden: 55 tackles, 13 TFL, 6.5 sacks, 4 QB hurries, 1 FF, and 1 INT returned 70 yards for a TD
Shane Ray: 39 tackles, 9 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 8 QB hurries, 2 FF, and 1 fumble recovery for 73 yards and a TD
The issue is if we have guys behind them we can sub in and be productive.
