Say a person weighing 220lbs traveling on a motorcycle at a rate of 18mph tries to jump a span of 5' x 4' high....

At what angle would the ramp need to be set?

This is where GA Tech robot classroom technology meets actual hands-on real-world applicable technology....

It's very weird that you think I'm making fun of the Jawga Boyz........

It's the opposite of that.

I'm a computer scientist and if you are relying on my calculations for your stunt ramp construction you will die.

Christopher,

Based on a 6 foot long 2X10 board for a ramp: Just add one layer of cinder blocks under the end of the board per 3 feet of horizontal distance that needs to be cleared during the jump.

For your speed, multiply 20 mph times the number of cinder block layers.

Also add 2 mph to your speed for every 1 mph of headwind component and also for every .10 degrees of barometric pressure above standard.

This type of basic math is covered freshman year at UGA. Not sure why you Techies are having trouble with it.......

Good luck.

UGA designs bike ramps, GT designs rockets. It is what it is.

If an engineer can't even design a cinder block and plywood bike ramp, then, I'm sorry, but that doesn't give me much confidence in the success rate of their rocket program.....

This revelation does explain a lot though.
