I see no issue with this. GA Tech beat UGA so they have every right to be excited. It doesn't happen very often, so why not celebrate?

Right. It's what I like to call a "t-shirt game". The type of game where if you win, every fan buys a t-shirt commemorating the occasion. Tech fans buy "we beat UGA" shirts a couple times each decade. It works out pretty well.

This November Richt gets to enjoy his eighth victory at Grant field in COFH. That total will be more than the last 8 GT head coaches combined. Very few t-shirts will be purchased celebrating his 13th victory in this former rivalry.

State Championships are for high school.

Tech should engrave.... "almost blew 30 point lead against GA Southern" and "Mark Richt squib kick" on the rings instead.

just seems very "little brother"-ish.

No one is saying they shouldn't be happy, Lord knows it doesn't happen often. But putting it on a ring? Things like that are why they aren't considered anything more than a mediocre program with an occasional blip of success.

When rare events transpire, I think it is human nature to want to document it in a tangible way. Good for them. It's like a native american killing a huge buffalo - it might never happen again and they wanted to tell their grandkids about it. Solution? Carve that bish on the wall.
