tiger04, so it's all about Saban & how this affects/does not affect him. Curious if you feel the young girl who this thug punched out got "burned" in any way. She was not part of the risk taking process. She was a victim & Saban had very little to next to nothing to say about her role in this. This is all about domestic violence, which is a huge issue now across the nation in both society & every sport in the country. Yet, all Saban cared about was giving this thug a second chance. Make light of it all you want, but put your daughter/sister/wife in her shoes & let's see just how minor this it to you then.

From the very beginning, Dave Grzyb told everyone who would listen that his daughter was the one to blame for the whole incident. He even made a personal call to coach Nick Saban, vouching for Upshaw's innocence and as a result, Upshaw was not disciplined by the team. Then after this morning's court hearing, according to the Tuscaloosa News, "Gryzb's father shielded her from news cameras at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse Wednesday morning. He turned around to yell "Roll Tide!" as they left the building."

tuscalossa, re your comment about a bad decision. Why don't you ask this thug's recent victim if that was all it was, just a bad decision. Saban's image is obviously more important here than the actual injuries sustained by the victim..as a result of Saban's "bad decision".

Another thing that has not been discussed is supposedly Taylor's high school coach gave Saban a "glowing" recommendation.

If I was the parent of a girl that attended that high school, I'd keep her as far away from the football team as possible.

I put tweets from an Alabama writer in the OP. I try not to look at AL.com, and wasn't even aware they had additional quotes. It's not a big deal.
You are a lying bastard, and the truth's not in you. You've got enough sense to research this before you throw it out there. Youdid research it and the tweet fit your agenda, so you used it....you're a very skillful pot-stirrer and you've earned my admiration for it!

Question..........if this happened at Auburn with an Auburn player, would you be taking the same stance?

Looking at Finebaum's show, listening to these retarded arse Gumps somehow claim that Finebaum is "picking" on Saban. It was the one of the most condescending, and out of touch press conferences I've ever seen. I can now picture Saban being at the center of a Penn State kind of tragedy, filling the role of Paterno to a tee. fricking unreal.

If any of you Gumps believe that Saban is just being picked on, you are the worst type of sports fan.

I would whoop and holler and give y'all all kinds of hell, but if Gus had put the kid under the same guidelines that Taylor was put under, AND given zero tolerance.....I wouldn't hold Gus personally responsible.....but I'd never tell y'all that!

Coach Saban could certainly benefit from brushing up on the same "media tips" he requires his own players to learn and adhere to.

He had an opportunity to address this in a politically correct and decisive way that would more than likely end any further debate and questioning.

Instead he handled it poorly (not the first time has happened) and folks/media will whine on about it for at least another week at least, or until we hire a bsktball coach.....

It's more about the way he projected that the questions he was asked by the media were off base and was beneath HIS program. He didn't need to be PC, just be a fricking grown arse man, and answer questions without being a whiny bitch. The softball lobbing media in TTown cowers to his hissy fits, most of the time.

Did you actually watch the press conference? I didn't, I never do.

Seems like the media peppered him pretty good though. He could have handled it in a politically correct way and it would have appeased the masses. This shite will have washed under the bridge by next week and it will forgotten with the exception of the rival fans posting on message boards.

I did watch it, and it's not hard to notice the moment when he starts the hissy, and the questions get softer.

Seriously, he wasn't peppered. Not even close.

How so? He answered the questions truthfully to himself, and he didn't even get perturbed until the same question was asked for like a 5th straight time. He isn't sorry for trying to change a kid for the better, and he isn't going to apologize for someone else's actions and decision making.

No. I was telling him to watch the press conference. It was obvious he didn't watch it.

Hindsight will always be 20/20. No matter what Saban said at the presser, I really doubt he will take another risk with a kid involved in DV again. Burned once will be more than enough.

I just hope this guy gets locked up before he hurts someone to the point of no return.
