He was the perfect hire for Tennessee at this time. I mean perfect

Agreed and I was on the fence for a while although I was impressed with his record for sure, I just didn't know much about him. But the more I learned the more I liked about him. He brings stability and is a consistent winner. AND after learning about his bio and experiences here, he's absolutely the perfect fit.

One more thing, from what I saw in his presser he has a big chip on his shoulder right now because of what went down in Texas. He wants badly to win big and prove the critics that have complained he'll never go farther in the tourney wrong. That was obvious. I LOVE that in a coach.

I also think the change in scenery will do him well.

Just hire Kim Anderson away from Mizzou and brag about that for awhile

We would gladly give you him.

Read somewhere that Andy Katz said on Finebaum that Wichita is making "enhanced offer" to marshall.

Well, when that poster is citing his "sources" while claiming he has inside info that Marshall isn't coming and he incorrectly thinks that Sexton is Marshall's agent, then yeah. His mistakes impact his credibility (or lack thereof).

@CecilHurt: ESPN reporting that Wichita State is working on an "enhanced package" (i.e., a raise) for Gregg Marshall, as you would anticipate.

There was a black coach that Barkley wanted, what was his name? Haven't heard a pep out of his coaching career since that search 5-6 yrs ago?
Yep, thanks. He was all the talk on the Montgomery radio stations and all hell broke loose when Gene Chizik got the nod.

They've already worked up the package, Marshall has two deals on the table WSU & UA.

Makes total sense. Odd that it's taken this long, but helps clarify things. Never expected him to accept Bama's offer without a counter from WSU. The key will be how close WSU can get to the $4M in front of him now. My guess is it will be $2.5-2.7. Might be enough if the family truly loves Wichita.

But being serious gumps. The SFA, Temple and Murray State coaches are all great coaches that would have yall back in the tournament.

If they are even close to the same, its an easy pick... And it isn't in Tuscaloosa...

I agree.

I've been in doubt the whole time.

It's hard to deal with a man that doesn't put money as a top priority, especially in the buisness world.

If he doesn't take the meeting with Bill Battle and get a number, he doesn't get to use that to get some more money from Wichita. I still think he stays in Wichita with his second kid in HS, but have to applaud y'all for going after him.

If I were Battle, I'd keep Marshall on the line as a first option but it's time to heat up things with other options.

Agree. If Marshall resigns with WSU today then Bama will likely have a new coach by C.O.B. Friday. I hope, like really, really hope, that it isn't Pitino. My feeling is that yesterday's trial balloon got popped so quickly that Battle likely knows better.
