Newest update added to the OP:

Summary from Shannon Terry:

*** Bill Battle's ~8 hour visit with Marshall was expected.

*** After the visit, the Alabama camp remained positive about landing Marshall.

*** According to several credible news sources, the Alabama offer appears to be at the upper threshold of the $3.5 to $4.0+ million range. That is consistent with what we have been reporting and hearing for the past couple weeks - but it's not likely WSU can come close to matching.

*** While the Alabama $$$ offer is definitely a factor and demonstrates the University's commitment to basketball, sources close to Marshall indicate that money is not the only and/or primary factor in his decision. Other factors include his legacy and his family.

*** Thus far, the only thing that has NOT gone as expected is the timeline. We obviously expected Marshall to have a final decision at this point. He's still mulling over his options.

*** According to sources, Marshall has given the Alabama contingent positive guidance throughout the entire process -- despite what outside national media has projected.

*** Even though Marshall is giving Alabama positive assurances, we still believe he has yet to make an ultimate decision. Next 24-48 hours are crucial.

My prediction on the future of Gregg Marshall after spending most of the day making calls: Texas offers, he goes. Otherwise he stays.

Tell us what that "BR" stands for in his Twitter handle.

I'll wait.

Lol keep reaching. This guy is well known in the hoops world and has contacts. No matter who he writes for.

It sure is a shame to see Alabama floundering in their attempts to hire a roundball coach.

You've been reaching as hard as anyone during this entire process - just in the opposite direction.

You've continually dismissed any idea that Bama has a shot here - even though that's clearly not the way things have played out.

ETA: Just yesterday you posted this gem:

Gregg Marshall's agent is Jimmy Sexton

Lol, Bama getting played like a 20 year old fiddle

Gary Parrish: from what I've heard from people close to the situation, Gregg wasn't blown away by Alabama yesterday. My best guess is he is back at Wichita next season. He's not a priority at Texas.

Then his ego is bigger than his brain and he definitely needs to stay at WSU and his current conference.

I know Alabama is such a wonderful, progressive, beautiful state.

It sounds like he is torn. That is a hell of a lot of money. I would even coach at bama for that kind of money. I would run the program in the ground as deep as possible.....then I would move to my private island when my work was done.

That's the way I read it too. Anywhere near $4MM has to be really difficult to turn down. We're talking about money that would make his entire family - kids, grandkids, etc... completely financially set for life. Generational type money.

Anyways...not sure why he is a worse source than any other.

I don't know much about Marshall's personality....but if he isn't phased about the Bama offer, to more than double his salary, have full control of his program, the exposure of the SECNetwork, huge recruiting budget, and every damn perk one could imagine, then he isn't man that is easily swayed with money.

I don't have much patience for coaching searches like this.....I'm of the opinion either piss or get off the pot.

He's known for being abrasive as hell and not getting along well with others. That's been a knock against him for a long time and also the reason our big money donors nixed hiring him in the past. To be honest, he's hard to like but he's good at what he does. He gives no fricks in more ways than one.

This is all so exciting and nerve wracking.

This could effect Alabama basketball for decades to come.

Yeah I'm about ready to tell Marshall to piss off and move on. This is getting embarrassing. Throw $2.5 million at Archie Miller and see what he does. We should already have a coach, dammit. It took State and UT less time combined to hire good coaches than Bama.

Yeah, I don't know how any coach outside a premier job turns down a $2 million dollar raise. That's some severe money whipping right there.
