Augustin and Durant were both Freshmen. Abrams was a sophomore.

Number 2, Gregg Marshall isn't the only basketball coach in America. There are others that know something about the game. Number 3, I'd rather keep Grant forever than to hire that used car salesman cheating turd Bruce Pearl who is going to leave Auburn so fricking fast at the first offer out of town it will make their heads swim.

So this is what a Bama melt looks like.

Rick Barnes should be the target now....best résumé available. Shaka ain't coming, he will wait for Nova and Gtown to run their coaches for underachieving

Rick Barnes is a very good coach. But, his age is a factor in this hire. I think this hire should be a long haul hire.

But bama is willing to put up the money to get a tier 1 coach and make the basketball program as strong as the football program and everyone should be worried rabble rabble

Smart turned down UCLA and Illinois, doubt he considers Bama. The only reason he'll talk to them is trying to get a raise out of VCU. That's only if he doesn't get the Texas job.

If Smart takes the Texas job, I think its a decent sign that Donovan to the NBA won't be happening this year (not that I'm overly concerned).

Not sure if it really says anything. I highly doubt Billy has just decided he is going to go to the NBA this year. As always, he will only leave for the right situation. So until the NBA starts firing coaches (like OKC), he won't know till then.

I don't think it is definitive or anything but Smart and Donovan talk fairly frequently, I'd have to think if the rumors of Donovan's supposed interest in jumping this year were true that it would come up. That said, I don't buy that Donovan is looking to go anywhere.

So it turns Out Pat Forde was full of shite. Smart is the odds in favorite at Texas and Alabama will actually meet with Marshall tomorrow.

Forde went from universally ridiculed to solid journalist with this tweet. SEC fans have now always admired his integrity.
