Not really, if we sunk $10M into stegeman would that help us win more games? No.

None of those are reasons our program is behind gonzaga and wichita state.

It would probably help recruiting at least somewhat, so it could.

It's hard to see high level basketball recruits walking into Stegeman and saying, "man, these people are serious about basketball." Fox seems like a solid guy, but he's not a super charismatic dude who's going to overcome that.

Witchata state spends as much per player as we do and have the same revenue.

Villinova spends $130k per player... We pay $60k

What does bother me is the undercurrent of "we stink, and although Fox is a so/so coach (counting recruiting and coaching), we really can't do better" and that may in fact be right due to the administration and AD.

If we had an adminsitration that was supportive of basketball and an aggressive, high quality AD, I would say good riddance to Fox and let's go get a coach that can recruit (gasp) as well as coach.

They may be hard to find, but they do exist. Do that, and they will come - both players and fans.

I fear this year may be fools gold. The SEC outside UK was awful. Other programs are getting very serious about basketball. In 2 yrs the same product might not get an NIT bid. I like Fox but I'd be pleasently surprised if he made us NCAA regulars.

The basic thing is top talent will not go to a school that isn't a factory. Top talent will go to a school where they are set up to compete against the best. They are constantly showcased on national television. They play top of the line OOC schedules. They know that they'll be a top pick in the draft.

Florida is not a basketball factory. they get 5 stars, but they get 3 stars. We compete with them for a lot of recruits in basketball. They have the infrastructure though. They have 5 star coaches, 5 star facilities, fans that show up when their team isn't winning, and they have administration that understands basketball. This makes a proud program. I think you could argue that UGA has none of those.

basketball is a lot different than football in talking about the quality of the conference.

I agree several SEC programs are on their way up in basketball but I don't agree that it is necessarily a bad thing.

It will greatly improve our RPI, SOS and give us a lot more shots at quality wins. Look at how many ACC and Big 10 teams get in the tourney each year.

I wonder if we would be better if we spent as much per player as Ohio State?
