This thread is hilarious. FDWL needed to be stopped. It gave us a bad rep just like confederate flags. And I love Dixie just as much as the next guy. And anybody who thinks this university will one day no longer be called ole miss is crazy. Ole miss will always be ole miss

I'm not a rich donor by any means and I have no problem saying a few of the people in this thread are backwoods goddamned retards that I wish would root for msu.
frick fdwl
frick col rebel
And frick you if you think bullshite like that has anything to do with an institution of higher learning.
Fun fact. Your bullshite traditions don't matter one fricking bit. Traditions that screw over the institution shines a pretty bad damned light on you when you tell your employer that your degree came from a backwards assed school that still believed we lived in 18 goddamned 50

but please....go on ahead and give your few dollar donations to the school thinking you're doing anything beneficial and totally not funding a handful of people treating our school like a goddamnted country club like they did for about 30 years.

The funny thing is that...when the FDWL happened....a few idiots on here kept calling me a bleeding liberal and a couple of posters on here laughed like hell and would tell the others that I was one of their most conservative friends.
And that is why I hate current politics. If you don't 100% believe what a right-wing extremest believes....you're a commie liberal. God forbid that you're actually a conservative that actually lives in the real world and not Mantachie, MS.

I know what your saying Being from the outstanding, growing town of Burnsville, MS. Most people back home don't understand you can be conservative yet have rational beliefs. God forbid you think that everybody shouldn't be able to carry an ak-47 with them or if you support stem cell research

This thread is so stupid.... Jones was not fired because of traditions, Dixie, the flag or a chant. He was fired because he was resisting power being taken away from Ole Miss polically....... You guys are worried about crap that MEANS NOTHING while Ole Miss is being polically raped!
Phil Bryant/IHL has every intention of replacing him with someone that will not fight for the best interest of Ole Miss. You guys need to lay your flags down and start asking the right questions about what all this means.... Know this....Ole Miss is now in a weaker position polically.

Just passed a upd car with ole miss written on it. The banners around campus on te light poles have ole miss written on them. Jones didn't get rid of ole miss either in sports or elsewhere. Lots of retard going on in this thread...

Yeah I can't figure why it keeps getting said that he took the name Ole Miss away.

first RULE OF REWRITING HISTORY: Test the waters with a "suggestion" of moving away with the name Ole Miss.
SECOND RULE: no one has the right to rewrite history for someone else. It's not good manners to play God for a fanbase and supporters.
Hands, face, butt slapped. He's not a god!
WE ARE OLE MISS!

And I am saying with all due respect, who decides for the majority? I won't tell you how to think, and you can't tell me how to think.
Perception is between bullshite and reality in the dictionary, and most folks DECIDE for themselves which end of the spectrum theirs is!
WHO has the say? ALL supporters, most especially alumni and students, not just a select few who declare themselves worthy, have the right to decide. The Chancellor is not an appointed God of the University with all power and glory.
I think there are a lot of Ole Miss folks who are tired of being told what values and traditions they can hold. I think they have spoken. We'll have to wait and see. It's not likely to be a quick resolve.

I told my mother that the United States wasn't founded on Christianity and she responded with "You need to get right with God"

FDOM is correct in this. I now think ole miss is in a worse state because of Dan being let go. Dan fought for Ole Miss and didn't give in to the folks in Jackson. This is why he was let go. Now they will use the good ole boy system to put somebody in there who will give in to whatever they say

Haha I'm a Christian and Ive had the same experience. Everything is black and white to some

Same. I am fairly conservative but lean more towards the middle and you'd think I had voted for Obama twice with the way some of my family reacts to my views.
ETA: The big one is allowing the government to legalize gay marriage. The government has nothing to do with my faith at all. It's completely separate but so many people have a problem separating the two. Just because the government allows gay marriage doesn't mean that the church is forced to. They don't take into account that people don't believe the same as us. Do I wish they did? Absolutely. Life would be much easier. People complain about how Obama is attacking Christianity and oppressing them because they don't hold the same beliefs as him but then they want to turn around and put Christian prayer back into schools and outlaw gay marriage among other things. They don't see how that's oppressive

But dude. Obama is a Muslim. Haven't you seen the pictures of him in front of a Muslim prayer curtain on FB?!
I literally had someone tell me once that "Obama says he's not a Muslim, but he also says he's straight but he hangs out with gay people too." Hell. I wanted to punch the guy right there and I didn't even vote for Obama.
