Does being in a play in game officially count as an NCAA appearance if you lose?

I know we'll hang the banner either way, just wondering for my internal record keeping purposes.

It should IMO.

Isn't one of the play-in games between two #16 seeds who won their conference tourneys? Conference tourney wins guarantee you a tourney berth so it should count as one even if you lose.

I think it does. Just relish the opportunity to win a game in Dayton since Ole Miss' new thing is to brag about the venues in which they registered a victory before ultimately being eliminated.

You're in the tourney, so yes. Great new banner for the new Tad Pad.

It's not even a play in game anymore. It's the first round. That should answer your question.

This is bullshite. Yes, everyone in the field of 68 is in the tournament. The first round is still the 64. The round they're calling "the first round" is a "play-in game."

If it was just for the very bottom seeds, I'd agree. But now with teams competing for 11 seeds, I'm a little less hostile to the "first round" idea. It is confusing for me, though.

I believe the old Tad Pad will be gone now FWIW.

Yes and for the record they are no longer referred to as play-in games. This is now considered to be the First round. Therefore, the Tigers, 'Cats, Dawgs and Hawgs begin play in the Second round.

Yes, if they're gonna call it a round one game.
