Why didn't Sammie Coates get any coaching at Auburn?

Sounds like a juco kid, not someone who has been at an SEC school for four years.

Coates may not be polished right now, but with the right coaching and enough patience, could develop into an elite NFL receiver with the ability to score from anywhere on the field on any given play. That's what he'll get scouts to say to themselves after this week, anyway. As Lance Zierlein put it in his NFL.com scouting report, Coates "has early round traits and late-round receiving skills right now

He's a freak athlete with ok hands. Coaches can't make his hands be better at catching footballs.

Coaches can't catch the ball for him.

He looked pretty good against LSU.

Considering he was a low 3* who enjoyed baseball more coming out of HS I'd say he's done pretty damn good in 3 years.

3 losses in 4 years. I'm impressed. But hey, it did rain that one time so that game shouldn't count.

With the right coach he can be an all star. He has every thing you could want in a receiver. He just needs the mental part down.
The drops that I saw him make, he was not into the catch. Concentration makes a great WR.

he was committed to southern miss when auburn decided to offer him a scholarship. nobody would have expected him to be drafted in the 7th round coming out of high school

D. Craig is a weak coach. He has a rep as a recruiter, but he is average at that also.

Yeah, Auburn and Southern Mississippi were his only two offers out of high-school.

Odell Beckham was a soccer player who had a ton of drops early in his career. Good thing the LSU staff didn't have the same "well, it's stone hands' fault" attitude.

I'm not sure how you can post on this website for 11 years and still be just so awful.

The only time you will get a positive evaluation for a WR, is when they are from a passing Offense. Even Cooper will have questions about catching the ball over the middle. Not because he can't, but because he hasn't. Coates was used for deep routes, so he is considered a work in progress for the Pro Game.

Yeah, I am trying to figure out the point of this thread. I had Coates as one of the best in the 2015 NFL class by the end of the season. He has decent speed, great size, and can catch pretty darn well in traffic... Ask Rashard Robinson.
