there was no melt

At one point there were 9 threads about Patterson on the front page of the LSURB. If that ain't a melt, I don't know what is. Of course, those threads were started by people who know nothing about recruiting, but the rank and file still melted

well folks over there think LSU should have landed him since he played in LA. But he's not from LA and LSU already signed a QB. They just see Shreveport and assume LSU should get him, which is unreasonable with a lot of the northern prep schools.

All I know is if the choices were-

only Patterson

-or-

Franks/another QB

I'm fine with option B. Franks has the potential to be a GUY for us, but we can't afford to put all of our eggs in one basket. Gotta hedge our bets with another take.

If Patterson was not down with being part of a two-QB incoming class, then yeah I'll stick with Franks/QB X.

Yeah. That doesn't mean people didn't melt.

If Franks is needing a sex change, then I can definitely see where the "high ceiling" argument comes from.

oh well for sure. Ypu know how shite works on here. Get the kid-troll OM and he's a world beater/heisman candidate/SEC fricked/ etc

don't get the kid- didn't want him anyway/already have a QB signed/never took a snap under center/ etc

I personally think he made the right choice. Why would you want to go compete with another highly recruited QB (who deserved that 5th star IMO) and a sophomore in Harris when you can pretty much guarantee yourself a starting spot by your sophomore year at OM. Kid has no competition considering how bad Kincade is and Kelly not working out so well.

And I like our LSU "WRU" chances, since our WR's win Super Bowls !

You don't want to get into a talent pissing contest agaist Dural, Dupre, Quinn, Johnson, Diarse, plus our new recruits coming in this class and next.

You may have Treadwell for one year with Patterson and you have Lodge, but you don't have the WR depth that we have when Franks starts throwing bullets next year.

Throw in the fact that the "Offensive Genius" label given to Freeze has been proven to be a crock of crap, The Freeze /Patterson combo will become the next Freeze / Bo and implode.

OM has some pretty good WRs. LSU obviously is loaded at the position. But if you want to win a pissing contest there are plenty of other positions that LSU is leaps and bounds ahead of OM at. Like RB. and probably OL. And definitely DB's (both Collins projected as 1st rounders next year )

If implode, you mean win continue to win one more game per season for the next few years....then yes.

He doesn't seem to be mature enough to be the next big thing for Ole Miss, IMO. Shea on the other hand seems like a really good kid who only has football on the brain. He also has his brother on staff which is an obvious major plus for him.

Short, objective answer to this: viewing the tape, Franks has the much bigger arm between the two. Looking at Patterson, you can see he is polished and very accurate. He'll be able to come in right away and not make mistakes. He doesn't have the arm though. Franks is a natural deep passer and with good coaching from Cam Cameron (sigh, I hope) he will end up the better qb around his RS-Soph or Junior season.

IMO, and many scout's opinion, FF's arm is not much stronger than SP's. Not sure where that is coming from. Probably up there with "midget", "system QB" and "higher ceiling" supposed non-melt comments

I haven't seen either play at all so I have no idea, just throwing out that Franks has been clocked at 88 MPH from the mound. Thats usually a pretty strong barometer of arm strength.

I'm sure Shea has plenty of arm to make the throws too. Either way, it's not necessarily an insult to either guy to say one has more unrealized potential, whereas the other is probably a more refined product right now.

I'm just saying what everyone knows already. Kelly is trouble and taking him was out of pure desperation. Yall are no longer desperate, as Patterson is the real deal and could easily start by his Sophomore year. Not everything said has to be taken as a flame.

is freeze going to have him running a lot?

I think there's a misconception with a lot of folks that shea is the "pro style" and franks is the "dual threat scrambler QB" when I think it's quite the opposite.

franks is already in an offense that operates from under center and patterson is in a spread offense from the shotgun that has him scrambling around making plays.
