Have you read the thread? The weekend games have 10,000 plus at them. Every year.

All this talk of in-town stadiums is just pissing me off about the Cobb County Braves all over again

Turner Field is a shite location. If there was a way to put the new stadium next to the new Falcons place, that would be one thing. Especially having access to Marta, and not having to take a shuttle to the stadium.

But since there isn't land near the Dome, they should have spent whatever it took to get the old GM plant.

Agree - it was not downtown either.

Like they talked about putting Olympic Stadium where Centennial Park is now (though you can't argue with the success of Centennial Park to the area)

Actually just listened to the head of the new investment project at the GM plant talk at the DeKalb Chamber Lunch. That place is going to be incredible.

And I say all this about Cobb as someone whose firm's office is literally across 285 from the stadium in the Galleria. I watch it being built every day. It just sucks.

It's gonna be a traffic nightmare, but I think you'll still see much higher attendance based on the other amenities they're actually building around it. You can get there at 3 or 4 and have a few beers.

If only they'd run a Marta line up 75 inside the perimeter, it'd help out all you ITPers.

Yea, I think so too. I just hope they do the multi-use stuff well and not cheesy. I have faith in the Braves brass but I have zero faith in the bozos from Cobb. This whole thing has been a nightmare mess.

Yea, it'd be great for the Braves and just in general. But that's never happening in Cobb. If they get the "Rapid Bus" thing it would be a miracle, and I don't see that happening. They think the super toll road they are building is going to solve all the issues and the Braves keep telling them about the 43 different "access" point to leave the stadium.

How long will it take you to get over there? That's gotta be a nightmare.

I guarantee you that Nashville is in the discussion within the next 5 years. The new stadium is gonna be awesome and the location couldn't be better.

Alternate Big League parks; KC, SL, H-town, DFW, Atlanta, the two in Florida. Be nice for the players to experience the BL parks.

Bunch of Doraville neighborhood "activist" lobbied the city council to reject any type pf plans for a new facility for the Falcons so I very much doubt they would have approved a Braves facility.

The perfect place for the Braves would have been where Atlantic Station sits today...too
bad ACOG and the Braves did not have the foresight to do it in the 90's...and Atlantic Station is now a semi dump.

LSU is in it this year. Completely different times of year though. And it's always pretty empty. Not really a ringing endorsement.

I think most SEC coaches prefer Hoover over the new park in Birmingham because they like being able to stay at the mall location where everything is convenient. They don't want to tax their stay too much coming off a SEC regular season that becomes a grind and then going right into regional play.

Leave it at Hoover until people stop showing up before you mess with attendance.

All the championships should be in Atlanta or the Atlanta area, great place for everyone to visit and great venues for football, basketball and baseball.

Coolray is almost brand new (late 2000s) and was a 64 mil cost.

I'd like to see it rotated. SEC folks would enjoy Louisville Slugger Field (Reds Triple A affiliate Louisville Bats).

Needs to rotate between 2 or 3 cities.. one of those cities needs to be in either Georgia, Florida, Tennessee or SC. Putting it in one of those states would encourage more attendance from the SEC East schools. SC fans would show up in droves if the baseball tourney was in the Atlanta area.

A good option in SC would be Fluor Field in Greenville. We have a traveling series with Clemson every year and we always play at least one of our games there as a neutral site. The other two games are on campus.

And Greenville is a pretty nice town. Smaller, but nice.
