Interesting that you don't have to sign the Letter of Intent to accept the scholarship if a school's offered you one. Apparently you just have to sign the Financial Aid Agreement. Some of y'all might remember that this is the doc that several EEs have completed for multiple schools simultaneously, when they're weighing their options. It allows the schools and the students unlimited contact, once inked.

I agree completely that the Dawg ship has likely sailed for him. If it hadn't, he would have signed as soon as he got confirmation that Ulbrich was gone.

all one has to do to stay up with anything relating to dawgdom is to read this board on a daily basis...one of the perks..

I didn't say that I didn't care where he ended up, just that I think it's unlikely that he'll be a Dawg. He's actively looking for one of the out of state schools to give him a reason to sign there, particularly UCLA, which we all saw was his first choice anyway.
Never mind that the remaining staff there deliberately withheld info that was crucial to his decision. More than the impact on Georgia's recruiting class, I find the nugget in the SI article fascinating that the LOI is totally unnecessary to the process if a kid really wanted to skip it. That's not a Smith-centric takeaway from the story.
Can you imagine the collective shitstorm that would ensue if the 2016 ESPN 300 opted to skip The LOI and opted for just the FA agreement?

I don't understand this line of thinking. It is totaly illogical. If he were going to UCLA even after Ulbrich left he could have signed on NSD. And, using your logic, he could have done the same with A&M or Michigan. Why some on here think it eliminates georgia but not the other schools is a mystery to me.
