Haven't listened to Finebaum in a couple years, but I can almost bet that you're referring to Jim from Tuscaloosa. Nice to see he still has the same schtick.
ETA: If he added anything about his athletic prowess in high school (better hitter than Ted Williams, etc.) then it was definitely him.
