1) The point is that Grimes' effect on the offensive line's performance cannot be isolated from the effect of the overall team decline. In other words, we cannot be sure how much of the decline in performance was caused by Grimes because every position unit on the team declined. Thus, there is no cross-unit variance to assess.
WTF does the defensive problems have to do with OL coaching? Are you serious right now?

Huuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrr well you see, the DBs sucked and got burned so you can't say that the OL sucked too because the DBs sucked just as bad Derrrrrrrrrrr

2) LSU's oline got better as the year went on.
Yeah, they were dominant against Arkansas with a ridiculous 1.13 ypc average. And giving up 4 sacks that game just shows what massive improvement they made.

We're talking about OL performance, not OL coaching. Subtle but important distinction. The performance of every unit on a football team affects the performance of every other unit. Anyone who has actually played the game or knows anything about it knows that.

You picked the sole outlier: A classic letdown game after the Bama loss.

There is also a second plausible explanation for the decline of Auburn's entire team: Gus Malzahn's departure.

I think you barners heap too much blame on Grimes. He's doing fine at LSU, and he just stole a recruit from y'all so suck it.

You're reaching if you're stating that as fact. Odds are much more likely that LSU was the fallback here.

Its ok they need this. After getting stomped by us 41-7, losing to Arky 17-0, and losing Chavis to A&M, the LSU fans are desprerate for some good football news.

Yes, and Auburn was most likely the fallback choice after Bama as well. No sense in everyone getting pissy. Take what you can get. He is a good player if he gets through the clearing house.

No doubt. I don't understand why LSU fans feel the need to be all "boom, in your face" about this. There was a pecking order of school choices for him. Regardless, he's going to be good.

Says the guy who will make up any excuse whatsoever to deny the mediocre to terrible OL performance at Auburn his last 2 years with the guys he recruited.

You guys touted your line as the best in the SEC and possibly the best in the country pre-season. Did they live up to your expectations?

Cue more excuses here.

Or somewhere in between.

I think we get Cowart, Holland, Carlton Davis, Tega (after NSD), Slayton, Reed, and Key or Ivey
