Obvious iPhone jokes were obvious, and re:Grimes, do I need to go find highlights of Clint Moseley running for his life in Death Valley in 2011, or can I trust you to believe that sentiment is genuine?

And his olines pretty well sucked in 11 and 12 when he had to do it with his own guys. His philosophy here with stance was, "do whatever feels right." That was fine when Tuberville's guys knew what they were supposed to be doing already, not so much when he was telling that to guys right out of high school.

We need more defense than offense right now

I mean we were all pumped that you said LSU had a chance, I was there. But Bama and Auburn have dealt with grades issues that were way worse than this. If he has to go through what Travante Valentine did, that'd be perfectly fine. As people are saying, he may be raw enough to need a RS year anyway. But I was told his problems aren't bad enough to go to JUCO whatsoever, and Bama and Auburn had to know this. I understand Auburn wants to keep room to try and pull off that 3-man haul on defense but a 5* tackle is a take. Period. From his interview it seems the OV got him 100% LSU and he just didn't give it away to the media like some kids do.

2013 was our best Oline in recent memory by a long shot and they were coached by a different Grimes. 2010 OL was filled with 4 year starters. But you still have to give him credit there. You also have to give him credit for the suits how OLines that we had in 2011 and 2012

Maybe he needed to restock the cupboard. Can't make chicken salad without chicken, man.

What it sounds like to me is that he (a) took the last guy's players and was an immediate upgrade and (b) restocked the talent pool so that the line bounced back in 2013.

And let's not forget that Auburn's entire team was a dumpster fire in 2011 and 2012, not just the oline. Can't pin it all on one position unit, jesus, the entire team sucked balls.

Roquon is 100% UGA, lost all respect for this post right there. I like your chances with Ivey and Robinson. The Cowart, CeCe, Holland trifecta just isn't happening, but I'd rather just wait until signing day rather than convince you that it's gonna be UF for at least 2 of them. Godwin and Slayton are sticking.

But continue your melt, that's fine

He was there for 4 fricking years and the last two years the line got progressively worse.

Now he's your problem. Enjoy.

1.I'm shocked he committed to LSU and I hope the commitment sticks regardless of when he is enrolled.

2.Bama has so many guys we are all sufficiently shocked and awed and sincerely hope it translates to winning the last game of the season at some point in the future.

3. Auburn has so many guys in play at the end that they are assuming they get. I expect some surprise defections on all those five star chickens they have already counted.

At what point did I mention Roquan Smith, exactly?

We'll get Cowart and Holland, but not Jefferson. Godwin and Slayton both likely stick, but we are in heavy need of WRs in this class, much moreso than lineman. Just had one guy processed, about to have one more, in addition to losing Bray and Coates.

So he gets a pass for coaching 2 of the worst OLs in Auburn history?

OOoooooooooooooooooooooooo
k

BTW, here are some quotes on your OL coach from this past September.

LINK
quote:

He's terrible. LSU offense had to replace starters with true freshman and a couple sophomores in every position except O-line. And it turns out it's the O-line that's our main weakness.
quote:

Our OLine was supposed to be a strength, but is turning out to be a liability. The Jeff Grimes question will be a major subplot in the Baton Rouge soap opera this year.
quote:

frick no! Bring back Stud. Grimes is holding is end in the recruiting trail but sucks at line coaching
quote:

But Grimes o-line has definitely been a disappointment thus far.

Lord, he's terrible Nice guy it seems But Jesus

1) The point is that Grimes' effect on the offensive line's performance cannot be isolated from the effect of the overall team decline. In other words, we cannot be sure how much of the decline in performance was caused by Grimes because every position unit on the team declined. Thus, there is no cross-unit variance to assess.

2) LSU's oline got better as the year went on.

It also just so happens that there is a plausible alternative explanation: That the head coach was responsible for the decline in every unit on the team.
