Butch, can you back up your statement that he already took it?

One outlet said he was expected to take it. That's it. This was a troll. Perhaps Butch doesn't need posting privileges here.

Craig Kuligowski is also lead recruiter at Mizzou for two other #Illini targets: 4-star LB Quarte Sapp and 3-star DT Daquan Hawkins

Yeah, look at who re-tweeted that last one. ESL coach.

That's why I was trying to give him a chance to back it up. Per Matter, it's fluid and he hasn't accepted. If Butch knows otherwise, I wouldn't ban him just because he knows the bad news already. But he needs to back it up.

It looks like he's taking it, but def nothing official.

I feel like this is a massive frick up by UM if they lose him.

Sounds like Chicago media is saying he's taking it for sure, everything like that is on the Illinois side, don't see anything from Mizzou side.

Got any links for that Ultimate? I'm not even seeing that. I'm seeing wishful thinking and predictions, but not actual reports that he has taken it.

They're all just running with the same report/source it seems, even the CBS Chicago guy is linking to the SBNation "rumor" with the football scoop source.

Just a lot of them are, no clue how good Chicago media is.

Looking online, Illinois' DC Tim Banks made $400,000 (reported in May 2013). Kuligowski's salary is just under $300K at Mizzou.

So Banks came in with the coach 3 years ago. He hasn't been fired. So he's agreed to allow another one to come in as co-DC. Kul already makes nearly as much and my guess is they can match the $400k. So just give him the damn title of co-DC to put on his resume but nothing else changes.

Missouri: Despite a report that has surfaced by another media outlet, CoachingSearch has learned that Missouri defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski has NOT accepted the co-defensive coordinator / defensive line job at Illinois.

Thanks Ultimate. I saw that. Some are taking the "offer" and turning it into he "took" it.

Thanks Cheshire. That makes sense. No question they offered him. He may even eventually take it. But I think Mizzou can come up with something to keep him if he hasn't already taken it.

I think his agent wisely leaked this, in stages, he'll get a bump in title and a small raise.

That is my hope. Losing him would be a big blow for sure.

And if you think about it, the timing is perfect for a strategic play like this. Best possible time to force money out of Alden. I'm hoping this is what's going on and that we make him the highest paid position coach in the country.

When we hired Josh Henson as OC and passed over long time coach Andy Hill who was on staff, we gave Hill a bump in pay and made him Associate Head Coach. Said that's what we should have done with Kul when we hired Odom. Worries me a bit that it wasn't done at the time of hiring Odom but hopefully it's not too late to do it now.

I'm gonna doubt Illinois pays both Banks and Kul $400k each, so he's already making nearly as much at Mizzou. We can easily match the money. His name is hot right now. Mizzou has benefited from his DLineZou reputation so it only serves him right that he get paid for being the one responsible for it. Pay the guy $400k or more, bump him to Associate HC or Co-DC and wrap this up.

I'm wondering if this is his agent pushing this along since it hasn't happened yet. Leaving for Illinois, which is a dumpster fire, makes no sense at all. Especially for a Co-DC title.

Chance to turn around a program with a step up in title. Everyone said the same about stec and he went.
I hope we can back the truck up to keep him but Illinois will give the same money plus the title. If his defense looks good for that dumpster fire, he might be head coach in year.
I always worried he was upset by being passed over by a younger guy. Doesn't give a chance to be head coach after pinked retires. If odom does the job, he will be on the short list. Unless we give kul co DC title he will go. Money won't be the issue. Stec took a pay cut to move up.

I'm thinking/hoping you're right. Entire Illinois staff may be looking for a job shortly. Not a full DC position but really just a DL coach position. The money won't be more at Illinois(DC makes $400k, their DL coach made $180k and Kul makes $300k). I think/hope you're right that it's a play for more money and rightfully so. BUT it all should have been taken care of when they hired Odom is my thought.
