He was supposedly talking to recruits about the state of the program and UF's facilities. I think people thought it a little ridiculous for him to talk about UF being down considering he is the reason we are where we are.

So it's Muschamp's fault that UF's facilities are sub-par?

Muschamp was saying UF would never build an IPF, that it was all talk. UF formally announced plans within days.

So that's why you dislike him?

ETA Didn't Muschamp ask for one to be built?

I liked Muschamp as a person but he wasn't just a bad head coach, he has hurt the entire brand of Florida football which is now gonna take multiple years to recover from. Jeremy Foley is partly to blame for not firing him last year and leaving us with a lame duck coach.

I didn't say I disliked him, I was answering the question. He seems like a decent guy as a person, but it really shouldn't be all that surprising that there is a lot of animosity directed at him considering the state of the program. His tenure was a disaster and people aren't happy.

No...it's the past 4 years of offensive futility and now recruiting FL kids to his new job. Please watch the Georgia Southern game, FSU game of 2011/2013/2014, Mizzou game 2014, South Carolina game 2014, Georgia 2011/2012/2013, LSU game 2014 in a row.

Because of how the contract is structured, we're paying him to recruit against UF. He's a nice guy but a horrible coach. Is it difficult to understand why we would dislike him considering how bad our program sunk under his tenure?

I don't dislike Chiz. He just wasn't a good HC. Those guys give their blood, sweat, and tears for their program. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Uh...at least you guys won the NC with Chizik. And he was only there for 3 years. He also didn't work as a DC in the SEC recruiting against Auburn after getting fired. None of this true about Boom.

And again...no Gator fan has a personal vendetta against the guy. But we dislike him because the program declined heavily under his watch. It's only been 2 months since he's been fired. It's not illogical to dislike him based on the state of the program ATM.

I wouldn't say any of us really hate him. We're just butthurt he was so bad as a HC and that UF has to pay him 8 million fricking dollars to recruit against us at AU. The subtle jab during his presser & rumors of negative recruiting don't help either.

The truth is........we won in spite of Chiz. If it was up to him, we would not have recruited Cam. Again, Muschamp was not a good HC. That is shocking. I thought he was an excellent hire when you made it. I assure you that nobody feels worse about his failings than him.

I'm sure nobody feels worse than him. He has pride and he wants to be a good coach. You're an Auburn fan so it's not surprising that you and beaver are the only ones in this thread more sympathetic towards Muschamp.

Us Gator fans, Foley and the UF prez were very sympathetic to Muschamp after he was fired ('he's a nice guy, he tried, etc.') and he got a healthy multimillion dollar buyout to boot. But he moved on pretty quickly (~1 month) to a job in which he works against his old employer. And we look at what a bad state UF is in, the records, the recruiting, the ground FSU made up the past few years. So no, UF fans aren't that sympathetic anymore and it's pretty logical why.

No offense, but if Florida had a QB worth a damn, Muschamp would still be your coach and you wouldnt be so bitter.

That's his responsibility. And it wasn't just lack of a good QB. Poor OL, WR, TE recruiting. Poor offensive player development.

So the head coach isn't responsible for the failures on one side of the ball?

We had 3 OC's under his watch. We gave him every opportunity to succeed, including not firing him after the worst season UF has had in 30 years in 2013. His small minded coaching and offensive offense put us in the position we are in now.

So... If Muschamp wasn't massively incompetent then he wouldn't have been a failure?

If Chizik had just found better defensive players he'd still be your coach.

Seriously, I get that you're stuck with him for now and have to put a good spin on things but Will Muschamp was arguably the worst SEC head coach of the BCS era when you look at what achieved in terms of what he was given and where he was coaching.

No QB could have developed under the constraints that Will placed on the offense. At least you give Chizik a Tebow / Newton level player and he wins a title, Boom probably takes a guy like that and tries to find a place to play him on defense (see: trying every athlete on defense first or offering Manziel at Safety).

We don't hate him more than any fanbase generally dislikes an unsuccessful coach.
